Wonderful service, spotless room & outstanding breakfast. Had to leave at 6am on checkout day & they prepared and left a big to-go breakfast for us to take along on the train. Easy transport via trams. Would definitely stay there again.

First off, the hotel is now the Plattendorf, not the 'Design'. Orbitz: you need to let them change it. A fair walk from the HB, the room was fine. The Italian restaurant attached has great Italian food. All in all a fine hotel (no free breakfast...)

Staff at the reception was awesome Tim gave me a lot of great advises for the parking places and the borrow you umbrellas which is a great think. The location is super great! The only thing you have to be aware is that rest. Is not open on Saturdays…..

It is a lovely and functional hotel located around campus of University of Zurich. There is a couple of cute cafes around, particularly ApoTHEKE, that I appreciated for its food and ambience. The property is clean and well organized though basic. I was delighted to find a yoga mat in the room, by the way!

The building is charming. With a very nicely decorated interior. It is also well located. In a nice, quiet, cozy neighborhood, but at a walking distance from the popular, largfe area of Old Town Zurich, with all its landmarks, stores, restaurants, etc. There is a bakery, and a mini-mart, in the immediate vicinity (3-minute walk). They were open very early, even though it was the end-of-year season, and pretty much everything was closed, everywhere, in this city… The rooms are... let's say… minimalistic. But nice, clean, quiet. There was no thermostat control in the room itself, but it was well heated, the air was clean, the insulation was good, the temperature was quite warm and comfortable (end of December). The price a bit too high, all things considered. But things are often like that, in Zurich. The breakfast is exceptional. And it is offered in a huge, impressive room. The young lady who was there, Yanna, was an angel. It was very early in the morning, and she had prepared the buffet impeccably, seemingly all by herself (it was December 30, and there weren't too many people working, in this city, during that period of time…) And although there was a coffee machine, she offered to prepare and serve the first - the most crucial! - cup of coffee of the early morning. It was just perfect.

Really nice hotel, centrally located, and well-designed rooms. Not really much to complain about, pros and cons below. PROS: Centrally located, can walk from the central station (it is uphill so maybe get the tram up and walk down), Nice room and large bed (not two mattresses pushd together like a lot of hotels), Water cooker and coffee provided in rooms, Large rooms and large shower, shower has like a pivoting head so nice for those of us who are shorter or taller than average, nice smelling lotion, soap, and shampoo, nice staff, restaurant and breakfast at hotel. CONS: Not really a con for me but the bed is on the floor so if you have trouble with your knees/back, it may be an issue for you, pillows got a bit flat and also I hate feather pillows- they could be fake feathers but pretty sure those are cruel to birds (along with any kind of 'down' except for the vegan alternatives). That's it, mostly all pros! Lovely hotel

Breakfast was great and staff were pleasant. Not sure if my room was just not recently renovated and others are, but could use a fresh coat of paint. Shower curtain stained, fabric materials showing wear. The bed was quite hard but luckily lots of pillows to make it work. Area convenient in university area, nice lookout area nearby to see the town from above.
