"What an awful experience, where do I start? A few days before my trip I contacted the property. The owner first said he couldn't host me because he was fully booked and asked me to cancel the reservation. After a few exchanges he said he could host me if I booked directly with him (at a higher price than what I had booked). At that time I could no longer cancel my reservation without paying any fee so, after he said he wouldn't respect my reservation I reported the issue to Expedia. Not so happy...

"That was terribly disappointing. The quality of host was not good. Concerning the members of staff, there is a woman who was not empathic. But the properter and Eric were so available. "

Learn more about Cape Coast

The imposing Cape Coast Castle reveals haunting slave trade history through guided tours of its dungeons and 'Door of No Return.' Explore the vibrant fishing harbor at dawn when boats return, then visit nearby Kakum National Park for its famous canopy walkway.

Cape Coast Castle is one of approximately forty fortresses built along the Gold Coast of West Africa by Europeans. Originally built by the Swedes for trading for timber and gold, the fort passed into the hands of the Dutch, followed by the British during which time the fort became infamously associated with the emergent slave trade. Today it serves as a stark reminder of that tragic period in history.
