"Great location and friendly staff, but the building needs serious updates. The hotel is in an excellent location, the breakfast was good, everything was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the building itself is very dated and in desperate need of renovation. It feels quite run-down and worn out, which detracts from the overall experience."

"A short two night stay. We have stayed here half a dozen times over many years. The buildings are beautiful 17th Century and the decor is sympathetic to the period. Food is a good standard they have an AA Rosette. Quiet location and enthusiastic staff. We strongly recommend it!"

"The property is situated in a beautiful location handy for Bakewell and Buxton. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy although the pillows were not great. There was lots of storage for our things. The bathroom was also a good size but I was disappointed to find a couple of long black hairs on the floor! The staff were pleasant and efficient. The breakfast was plentiful and we also are there in the evening whi h was tasty and good value for money. There is plenty of parking space."

The room was spotless, and the furnishings and decor in keeping with the period of the house, with some quirky little twists. Very reminiscent of New England B&Bs. "I rented a room here for a family of three, and it was convenient to where we were going and places to eat. It's in a lovely neighborhood. Overall, it was affordable and clean. Communication with the manager is quick and convenient, mostly through email. There's an onsite caretaker that we saw in the mornings. I highly recommend it for an affordable stay."
