"The beds are comfortable, the living room set up is great. The refrigerator was clean except the water purifier pitcher has mold- we did not use. The shower curtain liner was covered with soap scum but I think that should be changed every visit. The kitchen chairs need a good cleaning and the pots, pans, utensils need to be gone over. Found a lot of food debris- there is not a dish washer and guests do not wash the dishes thoroughly. We did not use the drying rack as it is rusty and dirty. I washed all the eating utensils and any pan we used prior to using. The location is great. The grill was readily available. The fire pit was VERY nice even though we did not use. The outside patio and stairs probably need to be power washed- a lot of mold. Stairs are not bad except last 3 have no hand railing which makes the difficult. The washer dryer in basement was a huge help. We washed the bathroom rugs the first day as they were obviously used a lot. The rugs in the house were a tripping hazard- they are not stuck to the floor and slip easily. They were well used and needed washing. Several of us tripped more than once. The comforters are not washed between visits. In general the accommodations are nice but a good thorough cleaning was definitely needed. The host was very good. I did not complain or notify her because I think it’s probably just the way it is. Again the location is excellent and the living room set up great."

"Great place to enjoy with family. This year the lake had some nasty brown algae at the shore but once away from shore was great. Owner and Kathy who takes care of the cabins is great. Only thing we don’t like is having to pay in full to book. No other VRBO that I have ever booked asks for 100% up front. Especially since you need to book a year in advance to get prime dates."

"Excellent stay! Everything was exactly as described, the property was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. Douglas was a great host and communication was easy and smooth. We had a wonderful time and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommended — 5 stars!"

"Very very clean. My friend not complaint is that I thought we had beach right where we could see it. It was the water but had a dock and not a beach. Otherwise this is a perfect VRBO find."

"It was a nice, cozy cottage / cabin in the woods. It had everything you need and it was clean. Quiet and peaceful. We seen deer, a jack rabbit and chipmunks running around in the back chasing each other and collecting acorns. Made some s'mores at the fire at night. Plenty of wood. South Higgins Lake State Park is 5 minutes away and so is Marl Lake State hiking trail. The owner / host was very nice. My wife and kids enjoyed this place. We will be back next year."
