The house is amazing but needs better kitchen amenities. Pots and pans are falling apart, hardly any bowls. Can opener barely works. There are stones missing from the wall above the stove, siding missing on the back of the house and a patch in the master bedroom that needs to be painted. Fountains out of order, broken thermometer in sauna. Again, the house is amazing but for the price I would have expected better amenities.
Great property. The fountain downstairs in the basement needs to be marked for no use. Someone turned the knob to check it out and it immediately smelled like a sewer backing up into the room. View was the best part.
This property is amazing! From the moment you walk in, you are surrounded with beautiful Mountain views through floor to ceiling windows. Everything that you need is provided and the sheets were the softest! We enjoyed every extra - the game room, sauna, hot tub and the fireplaces. Highly recommend!
Our family recently stayed at the Flying Eagle, and while there were many positives, there were also several drawbacks that affected our overall experience.
Pros:
Stunning Views: The views from the house are absolutely breathtaking and exceeded our expectations.
Spacious Accommodation: The house was large enough to provide everyone with their own space while also offering ample common areas where we could all gather without feeling cramped.
Cons:
Maintenance Issues:
Upon our arrival, the water heater servicing the downstairs area was not functioning. Although the hosting company promptly sent a handyman, the problem persisted until I personally discovered and turned on the water heater the next morning.
The sauna was inoperative, with a note indicating it could only be heated to 3/4 of its maximum temperature to avoid tripping the breaker.
The hot tub also failed to heat up, which was disappointing.
Cleanliness Concerns:
The bathrooms downstairs were not properly cleaned. The main shower had mold and an unpleasant odor, while the bathtub had mildew in the drain and a non-functioning drain stopper. Clean bathrooms should be a priority for any property management company, especially given the frequent use by guests.
Uncomfortable Bedding:
The king bed downstairs was extremely uncomfortable, with an old mattress that had a significant peak in the center, causing us to roll to the edges. While I didn't expect bran
Great place to stay. Incredible views and the house is amazing. The use of the bed rock in the basement was the coolest architectural feature I have ever seen. Overall this is great place!
We loved this house and plan to come back many times! We came with friends and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! The views are phenomenal! You won’t be disappointed by picking this property.
We've rented several homes in Eagles Nest z you can't beat the views, the trails, the seclusion - or the magnificent homes. We watched the Flying Eagle as it was built and were eager to rent because if the floor to ceiling windows and top of the mountain views. Our stay did not disappoint!
We often rent through Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals because they are easy peasy to rent from and make the process seamless. Can't wait to book our next trip - though its easier to go through the blueridgerentals.com site directly.
We wanted a spectacular home for our week long stay, as we got married in Banner Elk this past weekend, and my goodness — this place did not disappoint. There were a few issues with the steps going to the lower level and the property management group was there VERY promptly to fix the issue and check everything else before leaving. Blue ridge rentals is amazing and we will not only be visiting banner elk annually, but we will always book with blue ridge rentals. I have a ridiculous amount of people asking for info on this cabin. It’s the most spectacular place we have ever stayed in, and we made memories that will last a lifetime!!
Unsurpassed luxury mountain home with exquisite features from expansive crystal clear glass panels between huge tree trunk pillars, to comfortable upscale furnishings. This home has it all...beauty, amenities you will love (hot tub, sauna, pool table, stereo system throughout the home, back-lit gorgeous granite countertops, smart TV's, a well appointed kitchen) and views, views, views! And Eagles Nest is an expensive mountainside luxury development with numerous hiking trails, winery, boulder climbing park, off road ATV trails, sports fields, play parks, etc. You can sequester in this home and nevee desire to leave Eagles Nest property!
The “Flying Eagle” is INCREDIBLE from the second you open the front door…. Huge expanses of glass overlooking fantastic views for mile upon mile.
The massive rear deck overlooking the cliff is relaxing as well as beautiful. There are so many wonderful things to comment about. The luxury of the home is impeccably uncompromising. The host spared absolutely no expense on construction. TOP rated! The floors, fireplaces hot tub, pool table and furnishings, are tasteful and UNBEATABLE ! The MASSIVE beams make this home like no other. The mountaintop location is ideal for panoramic views on all sides and the owners took full advantage of the views by choosing a floor plan with multiple decks on multiple levels.
We booked a year in advance to take advantage of the Astounding Banner Elk fall foliage.
We were so glad we did!
Thank you to Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals and the owners if The Flying Eagle.
I hardly ever write reviews but i think in this case you could benefit in me doing so. Beautiful home on a great lot, but it needs some attention to detail to keep it a 5 star home. The worst and most discussing thing was the the sewer issue, there is raw sewer water running on top of the ground from the front right corner of the house under the outside steps down across the yard, this has been happening for a while because it has eroded a lot of soil from under the outside steps exposing several different pipe, it appears that there could be a pipe loose and only does it every so often like when a tank or something fills up and pump turns on, if your outside you know when it is happen because of the smell, my wife says she smelled it from inside of house. I had a concern that if the well was in that area that the sewer water is contaminating the well.
There were several things that did not work like the outside fireplace, appears gas was disconnected. The outside waterfall, The sauna would not work which was very disappointing to my family. We checked all breakers, control box would click but nothing would happen. The hot tub was not fully functional when it came to the jet controls because several of the knobs were broken off. The kitchen had a lot of hodgepodge items that are not needed and mostly unorganized. We think you need more than two trash cans as we ran out of space for trash. Missing part of the smoke detector in the south lower level bedroom, the small garage was just a mess/ un organized with things just thrown in there. I know several of these things are small items but the attention to the detail is what makes a 5 star home a 5 star home. We do not feel like we got what we paid for, I hope you guys will check into these items so others can experience this beautiful home to its fullest.

This was one of our best in state vacation. The home was in excellent condition. It was decorated for the Christmas Holiday and the kids loved it. It was so peaceful. The view was out of this world. It was such a beautiful sight and experience. The owners thought of everything. The kitchen was fully furnished, items were there to aid in washing clothes etc. We danced and had a great time. There are speakers in the ceiling in which you can connect to and listen to the music.
I would highly suggest that you make sure to get there before night fall b/c it's extremely foggy and nearly impossible to see the road. The house is high on the mountain. Also get all you can get ( food, and personal need- wise) while you are out.. You definitely do not want to be traveling that narrow/ curvy road. Also it's not much around. It's not a tourism town.
This is a definitely a great place if you are looking to escape and work on something or self. We loved it.
We absolutely loved the house. It was very clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen to make some gourmet meals. We were a little disappointed that the fireplaces weren’t operational during this cold month. We hope they’re functional next time because we’ll definitely be back!!!!!
A stair was broken and my wife fell and broke a rib
We are awaiting feedback
I am a physician in Charlotte and we notified you of tilting stair on day one and your response was to let the property manager know
My wife fell and is being treated for rib contusions
I get that you have a myriad of tenants but this was subpar! Just being honest
Do you feel that you provided a 5 star experience?
The photos do not do this cabin justice! The views from the back of the house are breathtaking especially the sunsets! The cabin has everything you need to make your stay relaxing and comfortable for the guests. Between all of the amenities in Eagles Nest and the location of this cabin, it is the perfect getaway!
