The walk from Beppu station isn't very long, if not destracted by their shopping area near station. The view of the bay was a site. The hospitality by the staff was amazing. Would def return when have a chance.

Only stayed in the hotel for a night, prior to my ferry journey to Osaka. I booked a Japanese styled room - sleeping on the floor, for the experience. Did take a while for me to get comfortable, but did sleep eventually. Nice room with a seating area, sea view and good amenities: fridge, kettle etc. An excellent breakfast in the morning, to set me up for the day. The hotel looked after my luggage after checkout, so I walked around the town and had an Onsen. Very much recommend a stay in this hotel. I would definitely stay here again, and for longer.

Stayed for one night in the Japanese style room. It was surprisingly comfy to sleep on the floor. Room was a bit old, the bathroom was generally clean, but a bit moldy and smelly. Everytime I had turned on the water, I heared it gurgle through an opening next to the toilet - that‘s probably where the smell was coming from. It‘s an old building, nothing to worry about for a short stay. The stuff has been very friendly. Their English is limited, but they do their very best to talk to you. Breakfast buffet quite good - Japanese style, but you don‘t go out hungry. Onsen also nice. Around 7 pm I was by my own. Hotel close to train station (about 5 min walk). Overall a good experience.

Pros: 1. Location: many bus stops nearby, and hotel is between 2 of the largest shopping centres in Beppu. So finding food is easy. There is also a nice restaurant opposite the hotel, Royal Host. Con’s 1. We wanted to check in at 2 pm but staff was insistent to only let us check in at 3pm. So we waited at the lobby. There was no traffic in the hotel in that one hour and at 2.45pm, we were then offered the room. Why so rigid? 2. The hotel was unmanned at night, which may pose a security issue. 3. No daily mineral water was provided. There was a notice saying that the tap water can be drunk. 4. No daily cleaning service. Even bath towels were not replaced. 5. Hotel is old and tired looking.
