Private Maisonette in Berlin's most central district next to the river Spree

This is a maisonette apartment with two floors. To the bathroom you will go up a spiral staircase, the bed is a bunkbed with stairs as well so we recommend this place to the young and fit.

Housed in the most central district of Berlin (Mitte), Guesthouse Moabit’s apartments are in a quiet street within a lively central neighbourhood that is well connected to the local sights. The nearest subway station, Turmstraße, can be reached in about 5 minutes on foot, the metro station Beusselstrasse is just 10 minutes by foot or a 3 minute bus trip away; and many buses to get around the city are accessible in under 3 minutes. A direct bus to the central train station allows a comfortable commute to BER airport by train.

Our apartments are bright, cosy, and seek to create a homelike atmosphere. They are all equipped with either a kitchen or a smaller kitchenette that includes hobs, a minifridge, and an electric kettle along with basic cooking implements. All rooms have en suite bathrooms. WiFi connectivity is available in all areas and street parking is possible in the surrounding blocks.

The beautiful river Spree is just around the corner and the nearby streets are dotted with numerous cafés, eateries, and bars. Berlin’s large Tiergarten park is a very short bus ride away and the well-known shopping avenue, Ku’damm, is 3 subway stops from Turmstraße.

(!) We offer this flat for a lower price than other flats in the building because it is on the fourth floor without an elevator. If you have mobility issues we do not recommend booking the apartment (otherwise it's great cardio training ;) ). If you prefer to live on a lower floor, please feel free to contact us and we will check the availability for you.

Zustand der Wohnung, Schlecht!

Berlin ist immer eine Reise wert, hat uns sehr gut gefallen, waren aber auch nur drei Tage und zwei Nächte da , leider hat die Wohnung die besten Jahre hinter sich gelassen, wir haben uns nicht vom Zustand der Wohnung beeinflussen lassen, wir haben hier nur genaechtigt, Dusche hat schimmelansetze und lud uns nicht ein, sie zu benutzen, WLAN hat nicht funktioniert, Handtücher und Foehn waren nicht vorhanden, wie in der Ausschreibung beschrieben, nach sofortiger Meldung der fehlenden Leistungen, per Email, bekamen wir am nächsten Nachmittag eine Meldung vom Vermieter, das die fehlenden Gegenstände heute nicht mehr krankheitsbedingt gebracht werden können, toll, da wir am nächsten Morgen eh abreisen mussten, hätten wir uns ärgern oder verarscht fühlen können!! , wir haben uns endschieden es zu belächeln, waren ja nur zwei Nächte.

I LOVED staying here! I found it so cozy and charming. There's a huge window looking out onto a tree, and in the loft bed I felt like I was perched in a tree house. I loved having a fridge and stove, too. Check-in and out were via a lock box, which was very convenient.It is a very quiet location, but located just off a busy street with lots of charming restaurants, and a laundromat right around the corner. Groceries and public transit are a short walk away. I would happily stay here again. Definitely read the description carefully and be aware that the apartment is a walk-up and the washroom is up a spiral staircase from the main room, and consider your mobility needs, but if you're looking for a small affordable home base for your Berlin stay, I recommend it.

Stay away!

Avoid this place at all costs! It is dangerous, cold, and dirty. The partial handrail on the narrow, weirdly steep spiral staircase is loose and wobbly, making it utterly unsafe. The steps were so short in length that one could only step foot-sideways to progress. The cleanliness was far from acceptable—bugs were present, dust was caked inside the heater, crumbs in the toaster, and an alarming amount of dirt in the corners. The ceiling light was insecure, which is unacceptable, considering people should sleep beneath it.We attempted to locate the host but were frustrated; after about ten minutes of trying to get in, we realized we had not been provided with the correct keys. Communicating through the Vrbo portal was inconvenient, as the host did not answer phone calls. On top of that, the WiFi was nonfunctional. About 20 minutes after entering the property, we submitted a refund request through Vrbo, which was an ordeal. The host tried offering a 50% refund, which is unacceptable. They also stated they could not provide an alternate location as compensation. Our decision to leave within 30 minutes of finding a suitable place was based on significant safety concerns, not personal preference. Regardless of cost, every property must meet basic safety and cleanliness standards. The host has now stopped responding altogether, which is completely unprofessional.

Budget Apartment literally

Very basic. One room apartment with upstairs (fragile looking, steep stairs) bathroom under the roof.Furniture looks as if it was reactivated at the end of its lifetime. Functional but not very cozy. Smallest TV i have seen so far. Small kitchen under the bed with basic necessities.The bed itself consists of 2 very thin and dirty-looking matresses directly on wooden planks. Head- and backpain inducing. The loud fridge from the last century, thin walls and possibly some animal in the ceiling dont help the beauty sleep. On top of it the wifi didnt work during my stay. Answers from the host were sometimes quick (after notifying support, that i didnt get my check-in details on check-in day) and sometimes very late/non existened (asking for wifi).If you need a relatively cheap stay in a expensive city, go for it, but dont expect a great stay.

Kleine aber feine Unterkunft in Berlin für zwei Personen. Wir waren natürlich viel unterwegs, zum schlafen, Nudeln kochen und für ein bisschen mehr Privatsphäre und Freiheiten als in einem Hotel ideal. :)

Preis und Leistung passen

Wenn man keinen Komfort braucht und mit einer authentischen Berliner Maisonnette-Wohnung im Hinterhaus nicht fremdelt, dann ist die Wohnung *besser gesagt das Zimmer) wirklich toll. Die Sauberkeit könnte etwas besser sein, aber kein Drama. Die Verkehrsanbindung ist fantastisch und man schläft sehr ruhige in einem dchönen Hochbett.

Eigentlich schöne Wohnung, nur leider einige Mängel sodass wie das Appartment gewechselt haben. Das war dann OK, nur etwas schlecht isoliert und daher etwas kalt und das Doppelbett bestand aus zwei Einzelbetten. OK für ein paar Tage und Menschen mit nicht so hohen Ansprüchen.

Alles was man braucht

Für ein paar Tage völlig in Ordnung, gute Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sowie Bus und U-Bahn in der Nähe. Alles notwendige im Apartment vorhanden jedoch ist es renovierungsbedürftig und etwas kalt im Winter.

Ok für das Geld

Absolut kein Luxus, nur für fitte Leute (schmale Wendeltreppe und Leiter). Wer eine Unterkunft für wenig Geld in guter Lage sucht ist hier richtig Komfort gibt es keinen, internet sehr langsam

Het verblijf was wel goed. Alleen het douche raam kon niet dicht. Het kozijn helemaal verrot. GEEN gordijnen voor het raam. 4x moeten vragen om 1 extra mes overal 2 van behalve het met. De w.c is goed opgelost.

Some water damage, hosts very helpful

The apartment we were initially staying in had the bathroom a floor above the main living/sleeping area, and there was water damage on the ceiling above the bed. When showering, water leaked out of the shower floor and ran down the walls and pooled on the floor of the living area. When we complained of this to the hosts, they were very helpful and allowed us to move to a different apartment unit in the same building. We had no issues with the second unit. Overall, the water damage was not a very pleasant experience but the hosts helped us to resolve the situation quickly.

Pied à terre dans résidence calme

L’appartement est très bien pour y dormir, mais pas pour y rester. Il y a à côté un café qui propose de quoi se restaurer le matin pour démarrer la journée. Le quartier est calme et en même temps animé.

Unique and memorable!

This is basic accommodation for a very fair price (by European standards). Don't be alarmed upon first entry due to the unique layout - it will grow on you and is actually quite charming! It is great for a short stay if you will be out and about all day. As others have noted, the layout and stairs would be a problem for persons with mobility issues, but for us it was fun and different. The good old filter coffee maker was a pleasant surprise for us as Canadians. Bed is comfortable and everything worked as it should. The big, sunny windows and courtyard are a nice bonus, although I imagine it could get quite hot (temps were cool when we were there). It's nice to be in a neighborhood away from all of the tourists, and it's a pleasant walk to downtown through the beautiful Tiergarten. Also a nice walk to the Berlin Zoo (which is great). Check in and communication with hosts was efficient and pleasant, and it is nice that someone actually meets you there to show you around. Thank you, we would definitely stay again!
