"We had 3 fantastic stays at the Riverte Kyoto Kamogawa. Very service minded staff that took good care of us from arriving to checkout. "This was a charming little place very close to the river, restaurants and shopping and just a short walk to the subway. Check-in was easy, staff was nice and the rooms were well-designed, cozy and clean. The price was very reasonable and we would definitely return. "

"The rooms were big and comfy, the onsen was also really relaxing. My only concern was there was no ice bath to cool off in but other than that it was very nice. They offer free ice pops as well which was amazing. The massage chairs however were always occupied so we didn't get to use them. The pillows and mattress are also very firm but surprisingly we would wake up with no back pain. In terms of closeness, it's about a 5 minute walk from Kyoto station. We really enjoyed our stay here regardless"

"I absolutely loved this ryokan--it was the wonderful Japanese experience I hoped for--futons, slippers, kimonos, tatami mats!! The dining was exceptional--many unique, artistically presented small plates; overlooking a lovely garden; tatami mats at low tables (although there were other options). Although the immediate neighborhood was nothing special, it is just down the road from the south end of Philosopher's Walk. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is it!! If you're looking for a modern, perfectly maintained and up-to-date hotel with Western beds and large bathrooms (the bathrooms are TINY) and amenities, this is not that. (There is a small couch in the room for those who get tired of sleeping and eating and sitting on the floor.)"
