We love to stay at the Sagamore, but it can be a hit-or miss experience with service. Sometimes they are spot on, and sometimes they seem overwhelmed and unable to handle unexpected problems or regular requests. It is such a beautiful spot, though. Hard to re-create that anywhere, so we put up with the little hiccups.

8/10

arrived on a Saturday.... large wedding going on .... was given a room in the main inn, but it was smaller than small. Asked for a bigger room but nothing was available.... again the wedding. The next day when everyone left, we were moved into another room, Much Much Better. Really is the only complaint on a wonderful stay.

I went to the Sagamore for a conference. The first night I had an issue with my heat and someone came and fixed it immediately. They have phones stationed outside the houses that you can just pick up and a staff member is always on the other end to help.

10/10

Fantastic for families with children. Extensive rec room with sports and games; nice spa and pools. Great food. Rooms were nice but many have no view and the doors aren't well - sealed from the hall making it easy to hear the people next door coming and going.

10/10

The view of the lake from Sagamore is just breathtaking. It's like you are one with nature. Looking forward to my next visit!

10/10

Staff was so nice and the grounds are beautiful. Rooms very comfortable and our room was upgradded which was a nice surprise. We will definitely go back again!!

I booked the room for and it was $50 more when I got there.. There is a 25.00 resort fee which at this time of year only meant the indoor pool and gym. Hard to believe that the indoor pool didn't come with the room. We we're put in a lodge room which I was not aware that we were going to be in as opposed to the main hotel. We had no decent view even though all of the water view rooms were empty. We were going to watch a pay for view. TV movie and when we got there they were changing companies so there were no. Movies to buy and watch. Most of the restaurant s we're not open so not much to choose from for food. The beds were nice but the room was quite ordinary for a lot of money.

10/10

last minute plans to getaway for 25th anniversary....great deal on rooms....not crowded hotel....staff excellent (especially Jamie at front desk).....couldn't do enough for you.....need tub chair...had one waiting....upgraded to main hotel....food excellent....counld ask for more

10/10

I loved all the perks that we got. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The pool was so relaxing before we went to bed. Everything was very upscale and I have been to a lot of lovely hotels.i would recommend it highly. Every thing was immaculate.

8/10

Great experience for the family, close to some good ski mountains and lots of activities organized at the hotel to make it fun experience for the kids.

8/10

The bed was comforatble and the room & bathroom was clean.. Nice linens. The downstaiars lodge room on the non-lake side was remincent of a basement in its proportions and its sound insulation from the upstairs room. The footsteps from upstairs were thunderous and there was a squeeky door upstairs that everytime it opened we heard it. There was artwork missing from the wall as indicated by two screws sticking out of the wall and the bathroom ceiling was cracked. We were there to go cross country skiing at Garnet Hills and we were surprised by the Dress Code at the Sagamore and did not spend any time utilizing the resort amenities.

Room was clean, bathroom VERY small & room had NO view. It was disappointing considering it was the "Sagamore" one would think that they would tell you the room you are getting has NO view at all, or that it is a view of the hill that leads to the parking lot and all you are going to see, being on the lake, is the bottom of the cars parked in the parking lot. Just would have been nice to have been told. So if you are staying here, ask what you will see when you open the curtains. For the money this room will cost you, the view should be what you would expect.

2/10

When we booked the room we expected to stay in the beautiful main house, but instead they sent us to their attached lodges which are frankly flat out horrific. You're better off in a Motel 6. The staff was rude and untrained. We had a 5 month old baby in a stroller and had asked upfront for a crib in the room, a request which they forgot. They then sent us to lodge 6, the farthest lodge of all, which was about 1/2 a mile from the main house despite the fact that we'd have to push a stroller back and forth and despite the fact that lodges 2-6 appeared to be totally empty! We had to come back and ask for a room closer to the house so we didn't have to hike there every time with the baby. They gave us a room in lodge 1, but this time in the basement so that we would have had to climb down very steep and narrow stairs with a stroller every time we wanted to leave the room. We went back a third time and got a parking lot level room for extra money. Also beware that they rent out the lodge rooms facing the lake as lake view rooms but there are trees blocking the view. If you stay there, you can only do so if you stay in the main house and the rates there are so high that you don't get your money's worth, especially out of season. The staff is untrained and not polite and doesn't make any efforts to accommodate you, certainly not compared to other hotels in this category. If you want to throw away your money, this place is for you.

10/10

We have stayed here many times and have enjoyed the hotel and its environs. It is quiet and far away from the bustle of Lake George, etc.

4/10

We spent 3 days on the hotel and was so frustrating to see the room comfort when we arrived. Especially considering the price we paid. We were 4 (2 adults and 2 kids - 5 and 1 years old) and the room was very tight (website showed the room was for 4) we couldnt walk in the room when everyone was sleeping. I requested to the front desk to change the room without success. The noise in the room due to the AC was bad too.

4/10

There is a big difference between rooms at the resort. The hotel is much more desirable than the lodge as all the amenities/activities are at the hotel and lodges can be a long distance away from everything. We were put in a room at the basement of lodge 7 which is closer to the mainland than it is to the hotel... The room was fine, but was relatively dark and gloomy like a basement would be. The furnishings were in need of updating and the bed was not comfortable at all. And since we were so remote, Sagamore seems to centralize all operations out of one location so there were always large trucks and vans double parked in the small lot that you had to navigate around, unlike a resort like Disney where you will never see this kind of obstruction because they will take the extra time to make it more pleasant for the customer. Upon check in, we were basically just given keys, a bill and directions to our lodge room. Nothing about the amenities or what was included in the resort fee that you pay, so by the time we figured out what we could do, it was too late (we only stayed one night). Overall, you could have a nice experience at Sagamore, but it will be expensive. The amenities are nice and the property is in a perfect location, but the staff was not overly helpful

10/10

The Sagamore is beautiful. We went out on a boat on the lake and had the best time. Then the room was so nice. I've never slept so well on a hotel mattress. The food was delcious and the service was nice and friendly.

8/10

Beautiful setting , quiet, classy. Room rates exirbitant for quality of amenities.

10/10

My wife and I went to The Sagamore based on a friend's recommendation. It was our 10th anniversary. It was truly one of the most charming places I have ever stayed. The property couldn't be more beautifully situated on Lake George. The views were spectacular and the hotel itself is a gem. We would go back in a heartbeat!

6/10

The rooms are tiny for the price. However, the area is relaxing.

4/10

We were in Quebec City and Tremblant before arriving at the Sagamore. The hotels we stayed at were Fairmount hotels. They were exceptional. The Sagamore was very different. We didn't realize that our reservations were for the lodges, being separate from the actual hotel. The rooms were still very expensive (with a $30 a night resort fee on top of the price). We checked in and have to admit that the desk clerks were wonderful. We went to our room in an old townhouse like setting. We had to go down dirty stairs, open a locked door to a small entry that was covered with spider webs and dirt and then unlock our room door as well. NOTHING like we expected. It was dark and dingy. There was a young couple next door that arrived right before us. We could hear them talking. They had called the desk and asked to move. My husband went back and asked to have our room moved as well. They apologized and we had to upgrade...at a higher cost to the actual hotel. The room was a beautiful room and looked like it had been recently updated. Not functional at all though. This hotel is so overpriced it's crazy. It rained one day and there was no where to go. The pub didn't open until 5pm. It would have been nice to have an extra spot open for a drink since everyone was stuck inside and the other bar was loud and crowded. I am not one to complain, but felt I should write a review about this so no one else made the same mistake. I couldn't tell you anything wrong with the other hotels we stayed in that week. Again, the service was wonderful at the Sagamore, but do not stay in the lodges. We couldn't understand why they don't focus more on their cleanliness and furniture...dressers were old re-painted pieces that looked like they were purchased at a garage sale. Lodges definitely need updating. We won't be going there again.

We have been going to The Sagamore and love the hitel"

4/10

My husband and I stayed at the Sagamore this past Saturday for our Wedding Anniversary and there was a fire just down the hall from our room. We woke up to a kid screaming in the hallway "help fire". Turns out the kid left a towel on a hot lightbulb, which caused a fire in the hotel. Everyone on our floor was running for the exit. The fire wasn't handled very well. We had to sit in the lobby for over an hour with no communication. When we were finally able to go upstairs our room smelled like campfire and we had to leave the windows open. Our room was right above the loading dock, so we heard the trucks coming in and out all night. We got absolutely no sleep and no apologies.  In addition, the Pavilion claimed to have a gluten free menu that wasn't and made me sick. I have a severe allergy to glutens. We will not be returning. You're only a number at the Sagamore. We've stayed at other hotels for our anniversary and were greeted at arrival with a "happy anniversary" and provided with a bottle of wine, etc. Don't expect anything special here!
