"Nice location near the train station. (STEAM TRAINS) Had a pleasant walk with around the area after our evening meal. Which was very nice. Breakfast was very nice."

"We were woken at 7am by a fire alarm and had to evacuate our room with a baby and a 6-year-old, only for it to stop before we even reached the muster point. It was later explained, quite casually, that it was caused by someone showering with the bathroom door open. Given there’s a sign warning about “sensitive” alarms, this doesn’t feel like a one-off and isn’t acceptable in a family hotel where sleep is already precious. We stayed at Macdonald Aviemore Resort as a family of four. When we raised this, along with a broken kettle, reception initially offered complimentary breakfast but later withdrew it after checking with a manager, which felt poorly handled. The hotel itself feels tired and in need of investment. Our room was small, especially with a cot, the shower was only lukewarm, and carpets were dirty with an unpleasant smell. The lift also smelt strongly of smoke. There are positives: the pool and facilities are good and we enjoyed them, though some maintenance is needed (hair dryers out of order, puddles on the floor, drains not very clean). The outdoor park is great for kids but also showing wear. Aviemore is a fantastic location, but the resort feels like it’s relying on that rather than maintaining standards, it’s certainly not 4 star. With better upkeep, it could be much better."

"The hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We didn’t use all of the facilities, such as the pool and sauna, but we did have a look and everything appeared to be in working order. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable selection of well-cooked items. We ate dinner at the hotel once and found the food to be fairly average. The bedroom was clean and tidy, and the tea and coffee supplies were generous. There were a few maintenance issues: the window had a loose sash rope, the door had a noticeable gap which allowed both light and noise through, making the room a little noisy at times, the shower temperature was very difficult to regulate and ran extremely hot so care was needed when using it, and the toilet seat did not fit the toilet properly. Overall, for the price we paid, it was reasonably comfortable and suitable for a short stay."

"The hotel itself as well as the entire property is beautiful and well maintained. Beds were comfortable, rooms clean, food was good. Prices were exorbitant for literally everything. Most are across Scotland and the UK. The real issue we encountered, was certain staff were distasteful and had an obvious distain for foreigners. We come from Texas, I brought my dad here for his 68th birthday as a surprise to see our homeland. Mirela and her sidekick (short dark hair and blue eyes) openly pointed and snickered at us during our $200 dinner (on may 1st at 6pm - for management to look into). I can only guess they assumed we were a couple? Either way it was very disheartening and extremely rude. I hope management takes this seriously because we will not be recommending this place to any of our friends or family due to this disrespect. Spending over $1,000 for a 2 night stay, I would expect a much higher caliper of class. With that said, most other staff was kind and helpful. The front desk clerk may need to work on her poker face to help hide her disdain for travelers as well. Angi I believe."

"We had a lovely stay with our dog. He was made to feel very welcome with plenty of treats and fusses from all the staff. The location is great and the area surrounding has plenty to see and do."

"We had to carry our heavy bags yo the third floor, which was very difficult. A working lift would have been beneficial. "

"The room was perfect for our short stay in Aviemore. The location was located perfectly and surprisingly quiet even though the main road is next to it. There is parking which is easily accessible and was located to the apartment right next to it."

"What a great place to stay- really clean, a comfy bed, quality linens and well-maintained room with a little fridge. Staff are all friendly and efficient. We stayed in a chalet years ago and liked it and decided to try the motel this time. We’ll definitely be back! It’s the best motel we’ve stayed in in Scotland, and it puts most U.S. motels to shame."
