The property manager is unprofessional. I requested a change to my original dates to add an extra night and it was apparently approved but the reservation wasn’t updated. She sent the new details in a message on the VRBO website, but never officially updated the reservation. I got an email saying my reservation had changed and I went off the dates on that email. So basically, I didn’t thoroughly read the messages on the VRBO tool and she didn’t completely update the reservation and just relied on the messages. Based on this communication breakdown, we paid for 4 nights and only stayed 3 nights. I contacted her when I noticed the extra fee and she basically told me there is nothing she can do, the owner expects his money regardless of any miscommunications. I didn’t even ask for a refund but maybe a future credit. Also, we are repeat customers so there should’ve been a little bit of appreciation. She told me to contact VRB0. VRBO said they saw her messages with the updated fee and dates, but she never updated the reservation so it still reflected the 3 nights instead of 4. They said the property owner could perhaps give me a refund or credit. When I tried to have a conversation with Madison to figure out what happened she got extremely agitated, insulted me and called me a Karen. I was calm with her and was only trying to understand the communication breakdown. I can’t imagine a world when a property manager calls a customer names during a civil conversation when the customer is wanting clarity. I was actually in shock by her behavior. She could’ve been kind and gracious and even without offering me a refund, I would’ve been understanding because I take some of the blame in the situation for not accessing the messages. Based on her response to the other negative review it seems she’s incapable of handling sticky situations with professionalism. We our frequent VRBO customers traveling all over the world and I’ve never had anyone treat me the way she did.
The community and the cottage are very nice. The cottage is charming but showing some wear. The downstairs bed is very squeaky. You can’t roll over without a loud squeak which makes for a restless sleep. Also, the pillows are terrible and need to be replaced. We are a family of 5 and the 3 bedroom was tight for us. The living room only has seating for 4, so when watching a movie we had to pull over a dining chair for someone to sit in. I’ll book directly next time.
