"Right in the center of town and an easy walk from the train station in Barnstaple. Everything is right there in walking distance and it's all just as funky and charming and welcoming as can be! The hotel's foundation has sunken a bit (or more in some places) which is charming but a little disconcerting if you're thinking you might fall out of bed!"

"The Royal is in a great location just off the Tarka Trail a short walk across the bridge into Bideford. I was staying in a Standard Room. I booked a single but was upgraded to a double which was a nice surprise. The hotel is currently undergoing a refurbishment - it didn't interfere with my stay. "A beautiful setting with everything you could possibly need. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, clean room with good amenities. I also had a stunning beach view. Nothing was too much trouble. They even catered for my Gluten sensitivity. The food at Breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious. My massage was heavenly also. The only think I didn’t like was the fact I had to leave such a wonderful place! "
