Blue Heron Mountain Cabin Dogs OK near Brevard w/free Biltmore pass

This wonderful little mountain home has been in our family for generations, and we come here whenever we visit the area. It has been updated recently, and we have decided to begin sharing it with guests. It is in a peaceful setting just outside Brevard, and it's convenient to all the wonderful outdoor activities and attractions that make our area so appealing. FREE activities including Biltmore, Rock Wall, Zipline, Whitewater Rafting, Trampoline Park, Snow Tubing and Axe Throwing.

Everything here is located on the upper level. An open floor plan makes this the perfect home for entertaining. The living space has a large TV and comfy seating, and adjoins the dining area and the well stocked kitchen. We love the big bathroom, and three cozy bedrooms await just down the hall. We have a record player and a record collection in the living room, and through the sliding glass doors you will find a nice deck with Adirondack chairs where you can enjoy the view of the neighbor's pond. There is a charcoal grill on the deck as well.

Brevard is home to the renowned Brevard Music Center, and is host to annual festivals including the White Squirrel Festival in early June, great 4th of July festivals, the Mountain Song Festival every September, and lots of fun activities on Halloween (Brevard is in Transylvania County, after all). Be sure to check out the event calendar for the Porter Center, which is the performing arts venue for Brevard College. You should check out Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Forest, both a short drive away, and it takes only about 20 minutes to get to the beautiful Gorges State Park. Asheville and Hendersonville are both nearby, and they feature lots of attractions if you want to take a day trip or two.

We had a lovely stay at the Blue Heron Mountain Cabin! The deck, overlooking the property, became our favorite place to start each day. The kitchen has everything you need to stay in and cook. The bedrooms are quiet and, since it was summer, the A/C was perfect and kept it cool. We had two small dogs with us and they were very accomodating of this. FYI, the driveway is gravel and has some bumps, for the water, so it's important to take it slowly. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a break in the woods, to see wildlife (we saw a fox!) and listen to the birds. It's just minutes to Brevard and everything you need.

Hiking getaway

We had a wonderful trip to Brevard for hiking! It was dark out when we arrived to the property, but the house was well lit by the deck lights. The house was clean and comfortable. We were disappointed that the record player was no longer there as advertised. We had brought several records to enjoy that. The refrigerator also needed maintenance. It was easy to communicate the issue and they said they would fix it after we left. It was not a huge issue because we were only there two nights and also had coolers. Location was great for the hiking we wanted to do. Overall this was a good spot for a last minute weekend trip!

Quaint and Quirky

The location of this property was idea for our needs, about 10 minutes outside of Brevard. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. We experienced no issues with being able to take our dog outside. There are two mounds in the driveway that look intimidating but our low slung sporty car cleared them easily. The floors throughout are sticky underfoot. When touched with bare hands they do not feel tacky but when wearing shoes or slippers the floors are literally a trip hazard. The fan controller in the bedroom next to the bathroom did not work. The washing machine runs hot water even when the temperature selector is set to tap or cold. The TV in no way approaches "large" as referenced in the write up. I didn't measure but would estimate it to be about 26 or 28 inches. The ceiling fan in the bedroom across from the bathroom was missing a blade. These issues were minor and would not prevent us from staying here again should the need arise.

Great location, family and dog-friendly

Comfortable family home, close to Brevard, waterfall hikes and apple picking. Nice outside deck with ramp and stairs, and very dog friendly. Host is friendly and quick to respond.

Almost Rentable

The cabin is a quite, comfortable, spacious and calming place. The location was great! It’s close to downtown Brevard, hiking trails, and lots of restaurants. The beautiful pine ceilings, new light fixtures, quilts, and kitchen sink/faucet were tasteful upgrades, too! But, it’s not equipped with everything you need for a perfect mountain getaway. Here is a to-do list: 1. Replace all mattresses 2. Clean tub 3. Seal opening for washer/dryer plumbing. The opening goes down to basement.This opening allowed spiders to enter the bath. 4. Replace broken ceiling fan 5. Connect water and ice in fridge 6. Repair hole is ramp. 7. Clean rusty metal debris from yard. I would recommend this cabin once repairs are made.

Cabin in a great location

The cabin was as advertised, kitchen well stocked, and very clean. It’s in a nice location with a pretty view off the deck. Great for your furry companions too. Nice welcome gift! We had a great stay!

Beautiful Quiet Place

I had a great time. The house was clean and had great towels, enough dishes and a few extras. Overall, it was an awesome place to stay. I guess are only complaint is it wasn’t closer to Brevard and it was only 11 mins away. 😀

Cozy and clean

Tidy cabin, just a few minutes from town, and the ride is very pleasant. Property management folks are great, very responsive. Would absolutely stay here again.

Nice centralized area

We went down to enjoy the amazing mountain biking in the area. It is a quiet, centralized location to great hiking and riding as well as downtown Brevard.

Gorgeous house

Perfect spot for our family mountain biking trip with our dog! The house is gorgeous, clean well stocked and excellent location. Can’t recommend it enough and would love to come back.

Awesome place!

We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return to the Blue Heron soon! Great house, very clean. Stocked with pans, dishes, glasses, coffee cups, silverware, coffee pot, toaster oven, microwave, oven, dishwasher, washer & dryer. Great view, not a mountain view per se, but still a sweet view. Great porch. Very quiet area and we felt very safe. Awesome location! Not to far from town, central to all the hiking we wanted to do and Falls we wanted to see. I'm very familiar with Brevard, so this was a perfect location to me. The house was spacious, cute decor, nice light fixtures and updates. We LOVED the wide couch!

Great Stay

This was our first time in Brevard and we were not disappointed. The area is great and this house was a wonderful place for us to stay. Very clean with the actual beds (as opposed to a pull-out or some cheap version of bed that others use). Pete was easy to work with and made the entire process a snap. Like the genius that I am, I lost the keys within the first 2 hours of having them, but Pete was calm and polite and made sure we had another set. I really appreciated that. We will be visiting Bravard in the future, so I'm sure we'll be back to this property again!

Easy and Cozy with Modern Touches

We have stayed in lots of VRBOs in Western NC, but we’ll definitely be coming back to this one. The location is proximal to DuPont and Pisgah Forests and also an easy drive to town for a quick meal or provisions. The house is cozy and based on square-footage alone you might presume a little tight, but the open kitchen and living space felt spacious, and the bedrooms were a nice size with new pillows and mattresses. We could easily fit the whole family comfortably on an upcoming visit. We loved the view of the neighbor’s pond, the wraparound deck, and the record player as well as the selection of classic vinyl which we enjoyed in the evenings. This house is a simple, easy, and while it has modern touches there’s a lovely warm feel as well. We loved it!

Great Place to Stay

This house was very clean, well stocked and in a great location. See stars at night but only about 10 minutes from town. We would definitely stay here again!

Clean, simple, functional.

The owners have gone above and beyond making this a comfortable place to stay with your family. It is conveniently located if you're looking to explore the numerous waterfalls and attractions around Brevard. I would recommend adding a couple of bigger pots and pans to the kitchen, a griddle, and a gas grill instead of the charcoal one. An outdoor firepit and a swing hanging off the tree by the driveway would be nice also. TV's in the bedroom and a larger TV in the living room would make bed time and breakfast easier with the kids (I get the whole outdoor no TV experience, but sometimes a screen is the easiest way to wind kids down before bedtime). Overall this was a great place, and very easy to check in/out.

Place was great, how ever it smelled really mildewy and my allergies were mad at me the whole time. Mildew was evident on bathroom closet doors. This was our only complaint
