Unsafe Experience – Beware of Unauthorized Room Entry
I’ve stayed at this hotel before and considered it an okay budget option due to its affordability and close proximity to the theme parks. However, my most recent stay was deeply unsettling and unacceptable.
In the middle of the night, I was jolted awake by the sound of my hotel room door opening. Thankfully, I had the top latch secured otherwise, someone would have entered while I was sleeping. When I looked up, I saw a stranger’s face at the door. I immediately called the front desk, who told me that no one should have access to my room. Alarmed, I called 911 and found a security guard nearby. The guard explained that the individual checking rooms was “monitoring their clients,” referring to local homeless individuals their agency helps by getting them rooms at this hotel.
This explanation was disturbing, especially since the person had a master key and was able to open my door. When I reported this back to the front desk, they claimed this individual was not affiliated with the hotel yet somehow had key access. The night attendant was dismissive, extremely rude, and refused to offer a refund or help me find a safer accommodation.
This hotel already struggles with some basics overall it’s dirty (I like the type of dirty that could be cleaned with a simple washrag), unreliable hot water, and a general need for maintenance but my recent experience raised serious concerns about guest safety.
