Worst check-in experience of my life, and I’m a well-seasoned traveler.
The receptionists were totally unhelpful at the check-in desk. At first, they said they could not find all of the rooms under my reservation, making us worry that we didn’t have enough rooms. They miraculously found the missing room later.
Then, we realised that families under our booking had been split across different floors of the hotel. Children as young as 8 and 11 years old were placed in a room on a separate floor from their parents. This is despite requesting family be placed next to each other months in advance.
Instead of helping us to resolve this problem, the check-in staff watched us as we tried to move people around different rooms so that families could be placed in rooms next door to each other.
The whole process took over an hour after a tiring 5 hour journey from Samarkand. We had elderly people and babies in our group who were already exhausted from the journey. The check-in staff didn’t show any empathy for them.
When I asked the check-in staff why they weren’t helping us, they said that this was a problem caused by the reservations team. Were the reservations team there to fix the problem? No.
TLDR: Your money is better spent staying at another hotel in Bukhara. The design looks nice but the customer service is 0.
I should also add that this hotel bizarrely has “half floors” which no elevator can reach (?!).
