"This is a quirky hotel steeped in history which me and my husband loved. On arrival our room was not suitable for our needs, this could have been avioded if i had called head ofour stay. The receptionist and alastair massey were fantastic and offered fantastic alternative room within minutes and this was beyond my expectations as it had a four poster bed and very large. This made our stay so much better and we had a fantastic break. Thank you to all."

"Lovely huge room, big comfy bed, fridge in room with a complimentry drink, plenty of tea, coffees & a hot chocolate & biscuits. Warm & cosy with 2 easy chairs. Was cleanish but toilet had bad stains in bottom, skirting boards dirty & not hoovered well, carpet very dirty but winter time & everywhere wet & sludgy, room & bathroom really ready for being decorated looked scruffy. The house was stunning & well worth visiting, stunning location. The staff were exceptional, friendly & really professional & the food at dinner was absolutely delicious, fantastic chef in my opinion, breakfast really good too & we got a complimentary packed lunch every day which consisted of Sandwich of choice, crisps, piece of fruit, chocolate bar & water, all in all we found it really good value for money, really enjoyed our break & definitely will go back. 9/10 just few cleaning issues. "Beautiful cottage.clean and tidy and well equipped.Really warm even on the coldest of nights ( we had snow ) Lovley setting, Views are beautiful. Lots of good information in the cottage itself for things to do in and around the area. Hosts were amazing. Helpful and lovley.Highly recommend this cottage. Thank you for having us "

"Absolute lovely stay, excellent value. Very traditional and welcoming, "Wol" really looked after us, treated us like VIP's with recommendations when we went out and took us through the breakfast menu (which was needed due to the amount of choice and customisations!) Huge portions. House and room had beautiful decor and attention to detail, we stayed in a four poster bed, which was a real treat. Ideal location, away from the busy roads but very close to Scrivner's bookshop (the main point of our stay) and the Old Sun Inn pub. Would come again (when we've learnt how to play chess!) "

"Beautiful cottage, inside and out. Secluded rural location but good road links to great walks and surrounding areas. Very responsive host. Welcome wine and cookies was a lovely treat and milk in fridge a nice touch. Be sure to say hi to Jack the very friendly sheep! Would definitely recommend and revisit. "

"Lovely clean room & very little noise from the pub, which was absolutely rocking, on Saturday night. Helpful & friendly staff (who also sorted the heating for us). My Mum had the ground floor ‘accessible’ room as she has trouble with stairs & that’s AMAZING. It’s a great spot to access the town: love Buxton. Our second time there & will be returning. "

"Room was well-appointed, of a decent size and with a refurbished bathroom. Housekeeping staff friendly and efficient. The Lee Wood has always been one of my favourite hotels in Buxton. Only complaint was that it didn’t snow - which is hardly the fault of the hotel!"
