"We stayed as a group of 10 mum friends on a mini-break together for a rest and a chance to catch up with one another. The house was fantastic. Plenty of space for all of us and we especially enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine chatting, visiting local towns and restaurants and relaxing in the house. We hired a caterer on one evening which went really well too. The house is beautifully presented and very comfortable. The only reason I put a 4 for condition was because some of our party commented on the slightly incongruous art choices."

"We had a lovely weekend away at Hillacre House. The bedrooms are spacious and well furnished, the kitchen has lots of good equipment, and the gardens and hot tub were really well maintained. The only strange thing about the house is the doors! All the rest has been built in keeping with the period style and looks superb."

"I stay weekly in different hotels and I can confidently say this is in my top 3 of the worst for cleanliness. Booked as a last minute due to location which was fine but the room itself was disappointing. No WiFi password given or any information leaflets in the room. The shower was held up by a cable tie… Which they couldn’t even trim down either. The water would change from scolding hot to freezing cold every 10 seconds. Hairs on the tiles. The hot tap for the sink would have to run for a good 5 minutes to have hot water. Stains to the floor around the toilet weren’t very appealing and the toilet itself was disgustingly dirty with urine still visible around the rim with tissue inside and whatever that is on the toilet lid when I lifted it up was revolting. On pulling the duvet back there were hairs and also black staining. It’s quite clear the bedding wasn’t even changed from the previous occupants. It really wasn’t a pleasant experience and for the price of £120 aswell. I can’t comment on the food as I was very reluctant to try this after seeing the room but I can’t comment mention there was sufficient parking. On check out this is unmanned and nobody around… Just drop your keys in the basket and slip outside the side door. I can see why!"

"This is a lovely hotel. We stayed in a luxury double room, which was nice with a spacious bathroom and great shower. Our dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced and staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking across the road from the hotel."

"New owner/manager is lovely and well organised and knows about looking after people. Im sure bar and visitor numbers will increase now. Wish her the best of luck on her new venture."

"It was clean and tidy, Beds were comfortable. The host was welcoming and accommodating to our needs. There was no information on how to work the central heating, it was nippy after getting out the amazing hot tub. We didn't want to light a real fire. The shower temperature in the ensuite was really hot and kept setting of the fire alarm, ( we couldn't adjust the temp) so we all just used the main bathroom. The bathroom door needs a lock & a cleaning spray would of been helpful for the table and surfaces after eating. Overall was a very pleasant stay and near the attraction we wanted to visit for Longleat."

"I arrived after 5.00pm after a long drive from London. I was given the key by the lady who was friendly to room 11 which was an annex building room. I asked for a WIFI code she gave me the details. On entry into the room it was very cold so I had to turn up the heating. Still didn't make any difference. The WIFI didn't function. I went back to speak to her about this issue. She apologised. I asked her about food she mentined they had closed the bar etc and if I wanted food would need to drive to Wincanton - 7.7 miles away to get a variety of food. Due to this I decided I was not going to stay put. I had to drive to Glastonbury and paid for a premier inn for the night instead. I vehemently request a refund please as not happy about that either."

"This is a really lovely house. We had our family Christmas there so did a fair bit of cooking and entertaining in the large, very well equipped kitchen/diner. The whole house is high spec and immaculate with so many personal touches. Nothing has been overlooked. When we arrived there was a Christmas tree, some provisions and lots of wood for the woodburner. The weather was cold but the house is warm with underfloor heating downstairs and plenty of hot water. You can walk straight out into the surrounding countryside, and there is also a village pub and a very nice farm-shop and cafe nearby. I really appreciated all the clear and friendly communication beforehand. It must also be lovely in summer. A memorable Christmas for us. Thank you. "
