Freshly renovated bathroom with hot shower and good pressure. Basic kitchen with everything we needed. Quiet place with picnic table near our room. Parking a few steps from our room but this made it peaceful.

The best word I could choose for this accommodation is "sufficient". It's not got amazing rooms or facilities, infact to be honest they're pretty average.
What it does have is units with some aircon (average but working), a tv, a little kitchenette and beds. I stayed for 3 weeks and it was sufficient for my needs. This was helped by the fact that hands down it's the most affordable like-for-like accommodation anywhere in the ACT.
Also in its favour is the staff are more than happy to help with things. Unfortunately the hospitality cleaning crew were hard to find but the front office were willing to do something when we needed a hand.
Great views of the sky at night because it's dark given the absence of anyone actually living anywhere near it, unless you count the prison down the road. Also no-one in Canberra actually knows where Symonston is so you probably won't get unexpected visitors.
Anyway, it's sufficient for a stay if you are looking for somewhere not amazing but affordable and... sufficient.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The place was comfortable, clean, and well equipped, and the service was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. I would happily stay here again.

I stayed in this room on rent and had a very good experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The place was quiet and well maintained. Everything I needed was available, and the environment was safe and pleasant. The owner was helpful and cooperative. Overall, it was a good stay and I would recommend this place to others."
The lay out of the unit was really nice and worked well for our family and it was cleaned on a surface level but it hadn’t had a deep clean for a very long time. There were cobwebs in the rafters, garbage left from previous guests under the single bed and in the bed side tables and the blanket had old blood stains on them while the shower door didn’t work properly. The carpet and drapes and had seen better days and were also in need of a deep clean.
We really wanted to love this place as it was so convenient for us but unfortunately we couldn’t. So much untapped potential

Staff person at reception was really nice. Room was dated but clean. The bed was comfortable. Good Wi-Fi. It was good for one-night and was the cheapest accommodation I could find during Spilt Milk festival.

Liked: Cleanliness
This is old conference centre and villas, long past upgrades. However, they are clean, comfortable and priced very reasonably.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa (#279). The unit was very dirty. Mouldy curtains in one of the rooms, very dusty around the skirting and carpet. It hasn't had a proper clean in a very long time. We have stayed at Sundown many times previously and it's never been this bad. Even though the villas are looking a bit tired and in need of refresh, they are comfortable, spacious and location is quiet and close to shops.

Great set up and clean
Reception good
First time staying here & NEVER, EVER again. Photos of the 2 brm villa on website are extremely deceiving. Is very old, dirty & smelly. Small old air con made the whole villa smell like a fish market. Had to sleep in our track pants & jumpers as the one small putrid smelling old aircon in living area did not heat sufficiently. Living area did not have a sofa as shown in pics on website, only a round dining table with 4 chairs & the tv on wall above. Not a single powerpoint in either of the bedrooms, no bedside tables or bedside light. Bathroom is ancient & awful, dried up white paint all over the towel rail, ventilation via a gap with fly screen at top of bathroom window which lets all the freezing winter cold air in, bathroom door didn't shut properly. A previous guests used towels on the floor of one of the wardrobes. Everything just generally unclean. I could go on but I think you get the idea. Thought it might be a risk staying here & unfortunately I was right!
While the room and service were fine, we had problems with the air-conditioner. It was loud, and switched from warm to cold without being programmed to do - problematic in the middle of a Canberra winter. Also, on our departure morning we found water at the base of the fridge, and found it had never been turned on at the power point and had defrosted; this was a problem for us, as we had stored meat and milk in the fridge section, which had gone off and had to be thrown out.
