A winding dirt road through a desert landscape with sparse vegetation and distant red rock formations.

Blue Quail Tiny Cabin at Caprock Canyons

Blue Quail Tiny Cabin at Caprock Canyons

8/10 Good
"Location is great... about 2 miles from State Park entrance. The grounds consist of 4 cabins with 3 RV spots in between. The grounds were clean overall. We stayed in The Blue Quail cabin. It was nicely furnished with the essentials. The 2 twin beds upstairs were sufficient for kids older than 7 because of the stairs. Unless you help younger ones up and down the stairs. Only sink is the kitchen sink. Just keep in mind you may be brushing your teeth while someone is beside you making coffee. No big deal for us, just FYI. Large covered patio with 4 chairs is nice. Propane grill worked and had two propane tanks, but grill badly needs to be cleaned. Was nice and quiet mornings and evenings. Blue Quail is nice but definitely could use a good deep cleaning., including windows and ceiling fan. Host, Tracy, is great responding to any issues. Yes, we would stay here again."

The Tonkawa Homestead at Caprock Canyons

The Tonkawa Homestead at Caprock Canyons

10/10 Excellent
"We had such a relaxing and peaceful visit here! We were visiting the area for my nephew’s graduation from Texas Tech, and the drive into Lubbock is easy and pretty - so nice to visit with family there but also have a few days of quiet family time in Quitaque. Caprock Canyons is less than 4 minutes drive from the house and a highlight of our trip. The home itself is spacious, charming, and welcoming, with historic character, comfortable beds and bedding, plenty of hot water and good towels, and a great kitchen set-up with dishes and utensils for a large family. The outdoor space is inviting with covered porches, outdoor games, a secret hideout tree our kids adored, and gorgeous sunrises, sunsets, and starry nights. Communication with our host was friendly and efficient. Thanks for a great stay!"
