Our stay at Octant Douro was easily the highlight of our trip to Portugal. We absolutely loved the hotel’s tranquil and picturesque setting along the Douro River. Our room overlooked the river, and we often found ourselves sitting in silence, simply taking in the breathtaking scenery and peaceful surroundings. The pool facilities were beautifully maintained and provided the perfect setting for relaxation. The restaurants were outstanding, and the breakfast was excellent, offering a delicious and varied selection each morning. What truly elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional staff. Everyone we encountered was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making our stay all the more memorable. Overall, we had an incredible experience and cannot recommend Octant Douro highly enough. We sincerely hope to return in the future and look forward to exploring some of Octant’s other properties throughout Portugal.

This hotel is perfectly located in the Douro Valley, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. The included breakfast was exceptional, with high-quality ingredients and a great selection. The on-site restaurant offered an outstanding dining experience for dinner, with delicious food and excellent service. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, making our stay even more enjoyable.

Our stay at the Octant Douro was amazing! They accommodated our early arrival by treating us to breakfast and getting us into our room well before check in time. Octant is a beautiful hotel, and the staff are next level - while we were out for a hike, the staff held on to our daughter’s doll. When we returned they had taken pictures of the doll doing all sorts of fun activities - from a massage at the spa to helping at front desk. Truly above and beyond!

Beautiful property with amazing staff from reception to house keeping. Sofia from house keeping made us feel so at home offering us extra water when I mentioned we drank a lot of water and checking on us when she saw us in the hallway. Kindness prevailed at this hotel.

Beautiful modern hotel in a very unspoilt area. All rooms beautifully designed to make the most of the river views. The reception staff were superb and recommended a lovely local hike along the river/through villages. They also recommended a great gorge walk along passageways a bit further away which was beautiful. The food at Raiva was excellent and it was a beautiful room. A Terra food was more basic/standard. Breakfast buffet was great. We especially enjoyed the heated outdoor infinity pool and the beautiful indoor pool. All staff were lovely and helpful. I would recommend a room with an outdoor balcony to enjoy the views.

I read a number of the negative reviews (after I had booked) and arrived at the hotel with anticipation of being disappointed. I am glad to say we had a lovely stay. Food was good, staff helpful, it is a lovely setting. I stayed in the river view suite and the room was great. Design good and lots of space. There is a lovely walk along the river. My only regret was that I had not figured where the hot buffet was at breakfast. I only spotted it when I was leaving. Thankfully, I was not there when children were in residence. I saw that a number of previous guests had complained of child disruption/noise. I can see how that would affect the tranquility. Maybe check for times when children are least likely to be around if you want to enjoy the peace and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful hotel in gorgeous location overlooking the river. It was very quiet and peaceful. The service at the restaurant and bar could be improved. The front desk is very friendly and helpful. I would go again, but would eat dinner outside the hotel. Breakfast was amazing!

The property itself is beautiful, we went for a hike along the trail and was lovely. Amenities are great, a small but very useful gym and of course many pools on sites. All of the restaurants on site are great. The Michelins restó is a great experience. I booked a lymphatic massage and facial and that was not a good experience felt very unprofessional and highly overpriced in terms of the experience received.
