About this property
Coastal Maine Escape in Castine – Kayaks, Sunsets & Classic Family Fun
Perched on a hill with fresh sea breezes (nature's air conditioning), Castine Cottages overlooks 800 feet of private waterfront and a dock on beautiful Penobscot Bay.
This charming getaway is sparkling with fresh energy under new management—but don’t let the lack of reviews fool you! The same dedicated owners, with over 50 years of loving care for this home, are still behind every thoughtful detail. Experience the tradition and warmth guests have enjoyed for decades, now with an exciting new touch!
This cabin is one of four on our private waterfront property—family-run and welcoming guests since 1950. For generations, families have returned here year after year to experience a true Maine summer. Each cabin is fully separate, offering privacy while still being close enough for group gatherings. Traveling with a larger group? Rent multiple cabins—perfect for reunions, retreats, or trips with friends. Just message us and we’ll help coordinate availability!
A two-bedroom, one bath fully equipped cottages features a screened-in porch with stunning water views—perfect for relaxing rain or shine. Step back in time to that classic summer getaway—think old-school charm, rustic comfort, and space for the whole family (pets welcome!). The cottage offers: Two bedrooms Full kitchen with all essentials—including a lobster pot Outdoor hibachi grill Cozy living/dining area with a pullout couch Traditional Maine decor: braided rugs, maple floors, knotty pine walls Private 8’x14’ screened porch
Let the kids run free and dive into classic outdoor fun—set up a game of croquet on the lawn, organize a lively wiffleball match, toss a frisbee around, or get out on the water for a peaceful paddle. Bring your own kayak or canoe, or rent one nearby, then pack a picnic and cross over to Mayo Point, or set out on a sunset canoe trip as the sky lights up over the harbor.
Nestled along the coast, Castine is truly a hidden gem among Maine’s seaside destinations. This charming town blends breathtaking ocean views with a rich historical legacy—once the site of significant Revolutionary War naval battles and still home to hardworking lobstermen who brave the Atlantic waters.
Today, Castine offers a delightful mix of local restaurants, cozy pubs, and inviting attractions. Spend a day exploring highlights like the town’s saltwater swimming pool, relaxing at the public beach, or visiting iconic landmarks such as Dyce Head Lighthouse. Just a short drive away, you’ll find the impressive Fort Knox and the stunning views from the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory—both unforgettable stops that showcase the region’s unique blend of history and scenic beauty.
