About this property
The Avondale Lower Level
Check out my basement apartment in Irving Park. The property is right off of Addison Street. Free parking and close to the 90/94 expressway. The Addison Blue Line subway is a 10 minute walk.
Basically a rec space, I rent this out at different times of the year as a convenience to those looking for an alternative to hotels and want to live like a local. I am not part of a property management group, but do love accommodating guests.
***This basement unit has low ceilings (not super low, but should be noted)*** ***Pets live on the property and next door. Although not excessive, you will hear dogs at times*** ***The "back yard" area "is not" available for use.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Our host was incredibly accommodating, kind, and responsive. The directions were clear, the beds were comfortable, and the towels were soft. Everything was clean and easy to find. We especially liked the little extras, like the parking permits and fans for the bedrooms.
The apartment was in a cute, safe and quiet area with lots of walkable food options. Parking was very easy and passes are provided. Our host was easy to communicate with and quickly made accomodations when asked. We would definitely stay in this unit again when visiting Chicago.
It was great, everything was nice and clean. Had every amenities that you could need. Even extra fans! This would be a great place for a small girls weekend.
I enjoyed a weekend stay here for the Chicago Marathon and it was great! The location was on a nice, quiet street, while still being close to stores for anything you need and public transportation (trains & busses).
The apartment was clean and had all the necessities and the host was very kind and communicative.
Would highly recommend!
This place is in the perfect spot. Groceries and a delicious diner a block away, a nearby train station, and a bus stop around the corner; just perfect. The place was clean and cozy, the host was very friendly and communicative, we loved our stay. Will definitely return!
My daughter and I stayed at this location last month and we really enjoyed our stay!!! The lower level apartment was super clean, very comfortable, and in a great location, so close to bus stops and the train was just a quick walk away! The neighborhood was also very safe and quiet. Our host had fantastic communication and made sure everything was just right for our stay, giving us helpful tips about the area. He also provided parking permits for our car and we loved being able to keep it just outside the house! We really have fond memories of staying here and will definitely look for it the next time we’re visiting the area!!! Thank you for everything, Jed!
Great place! Clean, easy in and out for a Cubs game and Wrigley Field!
We just stayed two nights the second night going to a Cubs game using Lyft.
We used the train to go downtown the first night just a 7-10 minute walk from the house and we felt completely safe walking.
This was the second time we stayed in the garden apt. Jeds place is right around the block from our Chicago Family. Apt is we well located for shops/restaurants. We noticed the updates. Looking good. Everything you need is there. Comfortable/homey/clean.
Nice garden apartment. People have commented that ceilings are too low, but my husband is 6'2" and did fine. Clean, beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Would recommend.
This property had everything we needed to explore Chicago for a few days. The neighborhood is very cute and walkable, and everything in the apartment worked as it should. One thing You need to know is that this is a basement apartment with low ceilings.
Great place to stay while attending a Cubs game, especially if you have a dog traveling with you. Beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Close to bus route to Wrigley Field, less than a block. Our favorite place to eat was Easy Street Pizza and Beer Garden, 2922 W. Irving Pard Rd., which is a short drive approximately 7 blocks away.
Yes the ceiling is a little low. Location is great, and the house was clean. Had all the items we needed. Host answered almost immediately with all the questions we had. Parking was very convenient! Highly recommended.
My husband and I stayed here while visiting our daughter and her fiancé. It’s in a good location, we felt safe and loved that we had parking passes so we could park right in front of the house. We never had an issue finding parking. It’s definitely a basement and has a basement smell, not bad, but it’s there. The ceilings (door frames) are lower than expected. My husband is 6’2” and was constantly pumping his head. The heat is controlled by the owner which we thought was very strange. Over all it worked for us, we weren’t there often, just to sleep.
The property is perfect for a single person or small group of people. As noted in other reviews, it's the basement made into a living space and has low ceilings. As someone that is 5'3", this wasn't an issue for me. The pictures are true to actual accommodations. The laundry room is also in the basement area and easily accessible. The host, Jedidiah, communicated with me from the time of booking through the end of my stay - providing helpful check-in information, answering questions, checking on my stay to ensure I had all needed, letting me know of events occurring around the house - roof inspection, and also upon checkout. Quick and helpful information. Overall, a great property and host!
Nice neighborhood. Clean. Good location. Not for people over 6'.
Was great as a base of operations to see Chicago. Close to bus line and train for public trans. Reminded me of some apartments I lived in at college. Converted basement/cellar. Milk crates holding up entertainment center. Hodgepodge furnishings, blankets and sheets over couches. Pros - it was clean, good neighborhood, convenient, reasonably priced, great communication from host. Cons - LOW ceilings. I am 6'2" and had to duck under every door frame, archway and light fixture. I'm guessing ceiling isn't much taller than I am. My traveling partner was 5'8" and had no complaints. It isn't high class but it is very functional and beds were comfortable. A fine place to lay your head, as long as your head isn't too tall.
