Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
A beautiful room that was very clean and spacious. We couldn’t hear any noise from the other rooms or downstairs. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and the place felt very homely.
The rooms are located on the floor above the public bar and eating areas. You can book an evening meal if required. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable with no disturbance. Nice breakfast served by friendly staff.
Such a great room, especially with a dog. We had a door straight out in to a lsmall beer garden. Absolutely huge shower & extra large room were great too. Extremely good value room & very quiet. We also ate there on the evening & food was really good, all home made & a cheesecake to die for. We were doing a charity walk nearby at Buttermere on the Sat so it was perfectly positioned for us. Thanks again.
Really helpful team - we needed to collect keys early to attend a wedding and the team not only accomodated this but letbus check in to change
Clean, tidy room with everything you need for a short stay.
Utterly idyllic views brilliant location
Food was cooked to order and every meal was so good. There was plenty of choice and there was no problem when I asked for salad instead of chips. The plates were full of good tasty food.
The bed was so comfortable that we slept through the nights.
Good and varied dining options - including gluten-free.
Helpful advice on walks in the area.
Large well-equipped bedrooms. Good place to stay away from busy Keswick
This pub/Hotel was fantastic, Nicola the host could not do enough to make you feel more welcome and at home, the foods amazing! the room was so clean and comfortable and had everything you could need. The breakfast was also amazing. If we do go to this area again i would not hesitate at returning, and also would encourage anyone who is staying in the area to try get booked in there, or even book a meal or Sunday Roast.
We had a lovely weekend stay at this country pub with rooms. The owners are lovely and very friendly and welcoming.
Its a dog friendly place, so for us, that was perfect. Our room (room 2) was on the ground floor and had a door leading out to the garden, great if you have a dog. The room was a good size and very comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities, tv and a hairdryer. The king sized bed was good and the bathroom was lovely.
We ate dinner and breakfast here both days and the food was great, and the potions were huge.
We're looking forward to a return trip.
We stayed at the old posting house for our annual visit to Keswick where we spread the father in law's ashes. Yet again another great visit . All the staff were really nice, polite and helpful ,without being over bearing . The rooms were, modern ,clean and spacious . The food at night was great . We eat in the bar as our two dogs were with us,and they're allowed in the bar. Really goid quality food, well cooked, full of flavour ,decent portions and a good price . Breakfast was exactly the same too. Will definitely be back again and staying here next year .
Lovely room with fantastic shower, large HDTV, good wifi, and firm comfy beds.
Great breakfast and good evening meals at reasonable prices with amstel on tap and good local ales.Happy to accomodate my sons bike too!
Nicola & Terry were friendly, accommodating & very welcoming. They were very obliging with packed lunches including hot milk in our flasks of coffee for our Wainwright-bagging & when we needed a packed breakfast due to an early start.
Myself, my partner and my grandparents stayed here for a short trip in the lakes.
It was a great base. The rooms were lovely, bed was comfy, very clean. The pub itself was great also, the food is brilliant.
I would definitely recommend
From the warm & friendly welcome to the genuine goodbye our stay was wonderful. Beautiful, clean & spacious, the rooms could not have been any better. The en-suite bathroom was spotless & a really generous size.
The food was delicious, beautifully presented & plentiful, well worth staying in for.
The Old Posting House is ideally situated as a base to explore further areas, Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Maryport & Lake Buttermere are all worth a visit with other ideas easily found on the internet.
Nothing is too much trouble for the owners & staff, they are all warm & friendly.
We visited The Old Posting House with friends who loved it there as much as we did & we will all definitely be visiting again.
Spotlessly clean very comfortable good sized room with en- suite. Hosts were lovely and nothing too much trouble for them. Cooked breakfast each morning with tea, toast, juice etc.
Stayed here a couple of times now whilst on a work visit, really like the place will defiantly stopping again, if i can get in its quiet popular, foods good as well
