Wonderful solo stay at YHA Buttermere. Perfect location just a stones throw from the main hotel and cafe which is nice. Friendly staff and guests, good facilities. Wifi poor but why do you need it when staying here! Will definitely come back

Staff friendly . Good views . Breakfast chaotic& disorganised . Limited hot water . Bathrooms a lot to be desired
Disappointed to discover on arrival that the evening meal and breakfast were not available for purchase as i hadn’t been informed by Expedia that the main kitchen was being refurbished..
Other than that, I had a lovely stay, fabulous hostel in beautiful surroundings with welcoming helpful staff 😊
Accomodation was very decent and just as expected. Friendly staff and just about everything needed for an enjoyable stay.
Breakfast was a little slow waiting on just about everything and the food and drinks could do with labelling but I wouldn't knock it on one experience. It could be fine every other day. The location is great and you get what you pay for so no complaints and a happy customer
Wonderful location for the hostel.
Lovely friendly and professional staff.
Unfortunately I was in a hudge dormitory on my own in the attic of the building, and it was freezing all night. The bed linens were very cold and damp.so never used them.
I couldn't wait to get up at 6.45 to go downstairs to get warmed up and have a hot drink .
Fabulous staff couldn’t have asked for more they were courteous helpful informative friendly and professional a real asset. Great facilities which were clean and well looked after. Very comfortable and welcoming lounge on our floor clean and spacious room. Warm and friendly dining area good food well presented and maintained and well organised the hostel is perfectly placed for views lakes hills and village has good cafes and pubs. Exceeded my expectations hope to return soon
Beautiful location along Buttermere Lake. The drive from Cockermouth was exceptional beautiful views of lakes and mountains. It felt as is time slowed as I drove along meandering, avoiding the sheep grazing along the road. This is a place I will visit again.
The hostel itself is perched on a hill overlooking the lake. Like any hostel the sleeping dorms are functional and adequate. However the staff and the broad wealth of people you meet there make the holiday complete.
Excellent stay at the youth hostel. A very warm welcome was received after a long day running in the Lake District. Great selection of food and drink with really friendly staff. Rooms comfortable and clean.
This is a hostel but it is fine for what we wanted. The room was simple, sink and beds. It was clean, the bedding was more than adequate, the showers were warm and clean, the W.C was always clean. There was a handy kitchen with a nice view. The sitting room was nice. There was a washer which soap was supplied, and cleverly, the furnace room is used for drying clothe which was quite effective and ecologically reflected clever thinking (saves many mega-watts). This is a nice hostel.

Great location.
Location is great: in the centre of everything - trails and lakes.
A first class hostel, with all amenities. A useful notice board showing bus time tables, taxi numbers, weather conditions etc. Very clean throughout.
Quiet in the night time, which was great for me as I needed to wake up very early for sunrise photography.
This is only the second hostel I have ever stayed in and I will certainly be staying in more hostels in the future.
We were a party of 5 adults , we booked this place due to it being near scarfel as we were walking this on the Saturday so only needed one night accom. We could not have been more pleased with the place , we had the 3 course dinner which was a great welcome to us all , very tasty and even served up to us by the staff. We had the breakfast in the morning too which was also great value for money and very appetising. The whole place is spotlessly clean with ample showers and toilets etc and comfy beds too . The staff work very hard and are all very pleasant and very helpful too . Only problem is you have to get there early to get a parking place but if you can't park here you just need to drive about 200 yards up the road to a little parking place at the side of the church. Very quite and out of the way but does have two really nice pubs a short walk away .
