Quirky rooms, friendly staff

Really friendly and efficient check in. Room quirky and very clean with everything a family could need. About a 15 minute walk from the cathedral along the Rhine so quite well situated. Neighbourhood shops and restaurants 3 minutes away so very convenient

Great stay

Had a great stay with Mycologne. Delighted to be able to have four beds in one room and so all the family had a bed to themselves. Indeed, they were lovely big rooms with kitchenette. Very quiet which was great. Silent throughout the evening and night. Very clean throughout. Would definitely go back.

Nice, unique hotel

Check-in is on the 4th floor. They share an address with a hotel right beside it so there was a bit of confusion with checkin. Once we figured out where to go everything was smooth sailing. Everything was clean and comfortable.

A super clean great place for family on a budget. It has a totally separate kitchen with fridge freezer hob toaster cups and plates. Downsides - shame there is no separate chillout/toilet area in the reception but they have maximized on rooms which I guess makes it cheaper. It is also 30 mins walk from the main drag. Generally I would highly recommend this place - it was perfect for us

I would go back here anytime. We loved the rooms. They transport you back in time...as if you're in a storybook like Hansel & Gretel. Check-in was quick and easy. The staff member was extremely helpful and kind. The rooms were spacious and clean. We loved the beds, the fresh air from the balcony and the waterfall shower. The only thing we would do next time is stay longer.

Good, clean property in location close to public transport, shops and 10-15 minute walk to cathedral/old town/train station. It did get very hot and stuffy in the building but other than that it worked really well. Table in kitchen area was a bit high for younger children but it wasn't a huge problem. Overall, we were very happy.

Location good but not much more

Location is excellent near the ubahn into town. Received a email with a list of house rules unfortunately the party of drunk men in the appartment next door hadn’t read it ! WiFi didn’t work on first 2 days. No information on house keeping ( 7 day stay ). Another girls party as we left were booking in for another weekend of party and noise. Was disappointing overall for price.

The weird, overdone medieval decor aside (do not be fooled - this is not an historic building re-done with character - it's a bland apartment building with themed decor) there were several issues. First, there was a horrible smell coming out of the kitchen sink. We opened the cupboards below and saw that the pipes had been wrapped in plastic bags. It was actual sewer gas coming up through the pipes! So gross. The shower floor had no lip, so the water just poured all over the floor, which was constantly wet. There was no comfortable seating in the room at all. The TV was tiny and all the way across the room from the beds, so we had to pull a mattress off the bed (or else sit on hard kitchen stools) to watch a movie. Finally, it was really hot in Cologne when we were there, but the windows had no screens, so both my kids woke up covered with mosquito bites. On the plus side, the room was a good size for a family of 4, the location was convenient, and the building was safe. Check in and communication were straightforward. But, I would not recommend this place overall.
