We have stayed here about 7 times (honestly lost count) and we always enjoy it tremendously and look forward to our next visit. Sitting out by the water is so peaceful and the house always comes stocked with just about everything that we ever need. Thank you Karen as always for offering up this beautiful location and we will be back!
As always my stay has been relaxing and enjoyable. I love waking up to the view and my dog loves it here. Karen has been a wonderful host and very helpful with my stay.
It was beautiful and everything was so nice in the home. The decor was very homy and comforting. The host was wonderful and helpful. It was a wonderful stay and we would definitely stay again and recommend staying to family and friends
This home is well kept and very well stocked. It had everything we needed. The view was outstanding, great sunset, and the stars were incredible. Best stars I've seen in decades!! We will be back, maybe when it is warmer. :)
My husband and I were looking for a romantic getaway for just the two of us. We wanted something that we could juat spend the weekend enjoying us and not have to worry about the world around us and we found here. The view was perfect, the accommodations were great, and even though it was cold the weekend we went, it was still a fantastic trip
The house was just what we were looking for on our annual fishing trip to the Albermarle sound. The house was clean and plenty of space to cook and relax with friends. The host was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had, we will visit here again.
Life's simple pleasures in the beauty of this location. We spent our days at the Outer Banks but hurried back for quiet suppers and were blessed with 2 beautiful sunsets. Even got to watch a full moon rising over the water. We hope to return and stay longer.
Great location! Beautiful views! Property worked out well for the limited time we actually spent at the house. Home is well equipped for cooking and grilling. Ms Linda is a very nice host! Would welcome the opportunity to stay again.
House was exactly what we needed for a 7 day work trip at the papermill in Plymouth. A bit far to drive everyday. Leaving at 5:45 AM and not getting back until after 8 didnt leave much time for the water. But on the water location was good far sunrise and sunset viewing.
Our too short stay was so relaxing and pleasant. Plenty of everything is furnished in their modest house, but you will want to spend every non rainy or non chilly second on the porch. Too cool to use their kayaks, but ooooh, the indescribable views of the river through the moss laden trees, from dawn to sunset, and with a full moon. We'll be back !
This is the perfect place to stay if you want to get back to nature! Simple pleasures, nothing fancy, but all the accomodations of home. The sound of the water on the shores mimicked the sound of the ocean at the beach our first night there. The main bed was so comfy it was like sleeping on a cloud. We thoroughly enjoyed being on the water and the beautiful sunsets. We fished, sat on the dock, walked the waterfront, did puzzles, played cards, crocheted, baked cookies, watched a few movies and cooked meals during our stay. Thanks again for a wonderful setting!
This was the second time my family came to stay at this property. We absolutely loved it the first time (summer 2021) and were glad to be able to stay again. The view is beautiful and it is amazing to be so close to the water. We encountered an issue this time with ants in the kitchen (even after we put all the food away in totes and wiped all surfaces down with disinfectant spray). It was annoying, but not the worst thing ever, we didn't reach out to the owner since we were able to deal with it during the little time we spent at the house.
The only real thing that bugged me was how the instructions for check out and taking out the trash varied between the listing and two binders in the house so we weren't sure which we should follow.
Overall we again enjoyed our stay and are glad we were able to visit again.
The location was wonderful! A beautiful spot on the Scuppernong river with easy access to the water (4-6 ft deep for a long ways out). We swam, fished, and kayaked and saw dolphins, and osprey right off the dock.
The property itself could use an upgrade. The outdoor shower was broken (looked like it hadn't been used in a while), the paddleboat was missing some pedals, and the furniture has seen better days. Owner filed a claim for an older chair; thankfully, we had renters insurance (required?). The uneven floors were noticeable, but didn't bother us.
However, except for a couple days of really hot weather, it wasn't noticed, since we were outside enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The host was delightful, easy to work with, and wanted to ensure our stay was great. We enjoyed the great extras for guest use (fishing poles, games, hammock, etc). Highly recommend this place!
The Riverhouse has everything you need to feel right at home. Our annual trip included my parents, my cousin, my husband and myself and our dog. This home includes something for everyone. We enjoyed both inside and out. The water right in the backyard with the swing at the dock is so peaceful and relaxing and view is spectacular. The inside of home is well equipped with plenty of seating, great mattresses, very nice bed linens & towels and everything you could think you might need in kitchen and more. Outside accommodations equaled the inside, plenty of seating, great gas grill and large yard. There was also plenty of toys, games and equipment for both inside and outside fun. The homemade strawberry preserves was a nice "sweet" touch as well. We met the host's mother who is such a caring lady and more than accommodating. She took special care to make sure our stay was most comfortable and enjoyable. Yes the floor is unlevel but it didn't bother us at all. We highly recommend the Scuppernong Riverhouse for the perfect, peaceful & relaxing vacation. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us and thank you for your unmatched hospitality! We would love to come and stay again.
