Had a wonderful family New Year's celebration here. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic OBX beach getaway, regardless of the time of year. They are planning a major renovation and I cannot wait to see how it turns out. The house is great as is, comfy beds, clean and functional bathrooms. Needed a couple staples (sponge and coffee filters) and there was no issue getting them the next day from Mike & Chelsea, even 8 miles down the beach road and through the dune ramp. Clear instructions were provided on how to get there, even in the dark (arrived later than we intended to). Would love to book again next time I am out visiting my dad in Virginia. Mike and Chelsea were flexible on check-out time, as we had to stay up to ring in the New Year. Amazing views as we were able to watch the dolphins feeding from the top balcony and had our own Banker Horse feeding in the front yard. Thank you Mike and Chelsea, we have many wonderful memories from our visit to OBX and the Nautical Nomad!

We had a great time staying at this home over the Christmas holiday.
We took everything we needed for the few days with us; as you do have to drive quite far on the beach. We have been to the area and were familiar with that and knew to bring what we would need. That being said it was worth it; as it is a beautiful setting with amazing views from the home. We saw the horses on the beach and more dolphins than I ever have before and I lived in FL for 20 years.
The house is being remodeled after our stay but looked like the pictures that were advertised. The house has enough room for a very large party and was easy to find. It felt very clean and safe.
I hope I can afford to stay again, when the home is remodeled as I am sure it will be more with the updates. Would book here again.

*The pool is equipped with an electric heat pump to warm the pool water. Natural gas is unavailable in OBX. A heat pumps performance is tied to the outside temps, the colder it is outside the less effective the heater will be. It may take 24-48 hours to warm up the water. No guarantees on the water temperature. Pool heat is an additional optional cost of $85/day, must pay for all booked nights of your stay. No refunds for any reason, including weather.
