The first night the room is super small not what we reserved luxury room. No table, no heating before 9pm. We asked to upgrade the room on second day and it was much better. However the location is a bit remote and it took longer waiting time to have an uber. The stuff is very kind, patient and helpful!

Very friendly and helpful staff Having hot water, tea and coca leaves always available is helpful when dealing with the increased altitude. We told them at 6 pm that we needed to leave early for our tour and there was a packed food bag for us the next morning at 4 am

Great for Solo Travelers

The staff was very helpful although they didn't speak English. I was able to use Google translate and WhatsApp to communicate effectively. The breakfast is included and very tasty. It's mostly buffet style however they also made omelettes according to your liking. The rooms are cleaned daily and the team and coffee station is always well maintained. Very quiet and relaxing.

I recently stayed here for a week. I originally reached out via Expedia to arrange a ride from the airport to the property. They told me they would contact me 24 hours before my arrival to set up their driving service. However, I didn’t hear from them, so I took it upon myself to schedule an Uber. When we arrived, our room was ready before the 2 PM check-in time, which was a nice surprise. The room itself was spacious and looked nice overall. We didn’t know it wouldn’t have air conditioning, but that was fine since we weren’t planning to spend much time there during the day. That said, the room could definitely use a deep cleaning. There was a lot of hair from previous guests on the bed and floor, which was unpleasant. On a positive note, the receptionists were always friendly and greeted us every time we returned. The location of the house is quiet and peaceful, which we appreciated.

The hotel was super cute and the staff were so helpful and accommodating!! The only thing that could have been better was the heat situation! They didn't turn on the heat until 6 pm on my first stay and then not until 9 pm on my second when I returned from my trek. That being said, the front staff turned it on for me earlier as I was freezing and just needed some warmth after being in the mountains. I would definitely recommend Casa Esmeralda. It was close enough to Plaza de Armas, San Pedro market, and everywhere else, and the service was excellent!

Great boutique hotel

We really enjoyed our stay in Casa Esmeralda. We didn't have a good impression of the hotel initially because we arranged transport to the hotel from the airport (for free) and have emailed them confirming our flight details the day before but after waiting at the airport for 30 mins they never arrived and we ended up taking a cab so we went into the hotel feeling agitated and a bit annoyed. However, the hotel was quick with rectifying the situation, they let us leave our luggage in the room for 2 days (the 2 days we were not in Cusco), paid for our taxi cab to the hotel, and also offered to pay for our cab to the airport. The hotel also had a good breakfast and was lenient with time - perhaps its because the hotel is quite small, they know which guests have had their breakfast and which guests are still sleeping. On the days where we slept in, they offered to leave the breakfast for a bit longer so we could enjoy it when we came down / bring it up to us in our hotel room. The only issue I have with the hotel is the location, its on a side alley and its a bit of an issue for cars to drive in if they don't know the way. I also understand that the area is not exactly the safest area which is probably why the hotel requires you to ring the doorbell to enter nor is the hotel convenient or close to the city center. Other than that, I would highly recommend it!
