Community Amenities – Powder Horn Mountain
Powder Horn Mountain is a private gated community offering a wide range of amenities for guests in a beautiful rural setting. Guests have free access to the seasonal community pool, typically open from late May through early September. Additional amenities include a fitness center and game room—both located in the clubhouse—a playground, paddle boats, a tennis/ pickle ball court, basketball goal, disc golf course, and miles of well-marked hiking trails.
Fishing is available in three community ponds as well as in Laurel Creek and Elk Creek. Fishing in either creek requires a valid North Carolina fishing license. The community also features a campground along Laurel Creek that is ideal for an evening fire, s’mores, or a game of horseshoes. With full-time maintenance staff, roads and access are well maintained year-round, including during winter months.

Linens and bath towels are provided. Beach towels are provided during the summer months. Guests are encouraged to bring extra towels for hot tub use.
The closest grocery store is Food Lion at the top of Elk Creek Road, about 15 minutes away. We recommend picking up groceries before arrival—many guests find they don’t want to leave once they’re settled in.
Dogs are welcome. The pet fee is $50 per pet and is charged separately after booking. Please note all pets at the time of reservation.
