"Das Ferienhaus liegt am Rand der Ortschaft und ist total ruhig. In der Wohnung ist alles vorhanden, was man als Urlauber braucht, sogar - bei diesen Temperaturen, die unsere Sommer uns neuerdings bescheren - eine Klimaanlage im Schlafzimmer. Aber das Beste ist der Ausblick auf das Wasser und dahinter nur Grün. Und Tiere: Schafe, Ziegen, Enten, Gänse. Unglaublich beruhigend. Und ein sehr wollkommener Kontrast zu all den lauten, lebendigen Städten, die wie im Umkreis besichtigt haben."

"Such a beautiful place to stay! The houseboat was definitely worth the trek into and out of Amsterdam - it felt like a little reprieve from the craziness of the city. Took us about 30 minutes to get into town each day, of which was a 15 minute bus ride. The town of Monnickendam was super welcoming and had great food options! One thing to be wary of would just be the spiders - all of us did end up getting bit because there are just so many in the marina that would find their way into the boat. Other than that, everything was perfect!"

"We loved our stay in this bed and breakfast! Klaas was always easy to communicate with and Marianna was so kind and welcoming during our stay. She met us at check in to make sure we had everything we needed and she made a delicious breakfast each morning. The village was very easy to get to from Amsterdam and the surrounding villages. We usually took bus 314 or 316. We rented bikes near the bus stop (30 euro cash for two bikes for a day). Broek is beautiful and peaceful. We really enjoyed walking around and Marianna made us dinner reservations the first night we were there. When our uber ride did not work out when leaving, Marianna drove us to the bus stop with our luggage. She went above and beyond! The bed is very comfortable, the garden relaxing and the bathroom is great. My daughter and I agreed that this was the perfect spot to end our vacation."

"The only thing that I found slightly sparse was the fact that there was only one luggage cart, and it was not available when I arrived. Which meant that I had to lug my heavy luggage myself. The receptionist was unable to find a helping hand, but ended up helping me herself, which I appreciated. But I do feel that one cart is simply not enough. The renovated room was awesome. Very comfortable and clean. I would have liked a normal coffee maker though. The little cups make strong coffee and there was no milk available. I did appreciate finding real glassware. Bigger mugs would have been wonderful. I would suggest that the hotel prohibits smoking on the balcony. The rooms that bordered my balcony had people in them who smokes. One cigarettes, the other cannabis. So I really could not enjoy the balcony, But... in general I would gladly recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay near beautiful Edam and Volendam."

"Hotel Posthoorn was a highlight of our trip. Located in the charming town of Monnickendam, it offers an authentic Dutch experience away from the crowds. The town is quaint, welcoming, and easy to explore, with exceptionally clean and efficient public transportation making travel simple. The hotel exceeded expectations. The accommodations were elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. The staff were outstanding—friendly, professional, and genuinely accommodating. A special thank you to Sara, whose warmth and attentiveness made our stay especially memorable. For the quality of the rooms, service, and location, the cost was absolutely worth it. The only drawback was breakfast. While fresh and well-prepared, the selection felt limited for the price. More protein options and fresh vegetables would greatly improve the experience beyond the breads, cold cuts, and omelets offered. One travel tip: wait until you arrive before booking excursions. Giethoorn, while picturesque, felt overrated and required nearly two hours of travel each way for a short canal ride. Instead, visit nearby Edam and Volendam. The Edam Cheese Museum is fascinating, and Volendam is perfect for strolling the harbor, exploring the streets, and taking the ferry. Overall, Hotel Posthoorn provides exceptional accommodations, outstanding service, and an ideal base for exploring a beautiful and authentic part of the Netherlands."
