Loved the room decor and the cute little touches like the bow on the toilet paper and the towels folded like flowers. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff outstanding, and the building itself so beautiful.
We enjoyed our stay. Our room was amazing. The grounds and the castle were exactly what you would expect. The food was great, both dinner and breakfast.
We booked as we were going to Musselburgh races. Loved the hotel; authentic, and unlike more polished alternatives elsewhere in Scotland. Great character and great to see local staff offering international tourists great service. We will definitely be back

Staff was AMAZING! We stayed in the Castle Suite which is a gorgeous and spacious room. It has a huge bathtub! It also has a door that leads to the garden. The ponies were a beautiful site from our room. The grounds are spectacular.
The rooms were large and tastefully decorated. It's a very quiet area and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's really a unique castle experience we really enjoyed.

Great place to stay
Lovely hotel , staff were brilliant and the room was amazing.
No problem with getting a parking space, very friendly and helpful reception welcome, room was gorgeous, tastefully done and full of little personal touches. Nice and clean.
A big and very comfortable bed. We have stayed at a number of UK hotels (10+) this year and this is one of the few we are planning to return to.
Its a castle from the 13th century on extensive property. The rooms are quaintly historical feeling. Four poster beds, antingue-ish furniture. In general, a great medieval feel while still having modern amenities
Excellent hotel , with lots of charm and character, outdoor seating was great in the gardens and bar is very comfortable and cosy. Restaurant was very nice and have yet to sample their afternoon tea. The staff were extremely professional and very helpful and i would highly recommend staying here
This was such a cool experience! The grounds were amazing and the room was perfect. You absolutely have to check this place out if you come to Edinburgh!
I stayed in this hotel 20 years ago. Perhaps I hoped it would be the same… The staff was excellent and the food was as well. However, the room seemed a bit tired despite a recent renovation. Vinyl flooring in the bath was not in keeping with the architecture of the building for instance… the main rooms of the hotel were still as beautiful as I remember, but the grounds have been neglected. It’s a beautiful property and worth the stay if you’re in the area but not quite as grand as my last stay.
