Really pleased with my stay. Upgraded me from single room to double. Staff couldnt have been more helpful. There was a problem with the water supply in room so they moved me to a better room. Comfortable bed, great size room, lovely and quiet, good sleep, breakfast was good. Free parking. Bus stop to get all over Edinburgh and back, right across the road. For what I paid it was excellent. Thank you!

The room was lovely. Staff when seen were polite and friendly.
Unfortunately there were many cons to staying here.
A room was booked for 6 nights over 2 separate bookings.
The whole stay I was given two towels - one of which I had to request. There was no daily house keeping in the rooms.
Only one day out of the stay there was breakfast ready and supplied without prompt, one of the other days I heard someone else request breakfast so quickly made my way for some, so two days I got breakfast. It shouldn't have to be requested, it should have been there ready.
Midway through the stay I managed to get a room upgrade (requested by my sister who made the booking) upon the room switch I was asked if I wanted the bed sheets changed - this should have been done without question - it was my father in the room before, however this is irrelevant.
On day 4 I let the staff know I would clear my room as there was a chance I dont need the room the last 2 nights, I left the key with reception incase I wasnt coming back.
I then found I no longer needed the last 2 nights of the stay. Tried multiple times to contact the hotel, left messages and emails, to this day I have had no response.
Unfortunately we wont book this hotel again due to obvious reasons stated. Hopefully the hotel reads this and takes on board the comments.

It was overall a pleasant stay in the residence. The staff, most especially Romik were warm and welcoming. I even got a room upgrade which I highly appreciated not to mention the comfty bed! Location is also convenient as you have direct buses that can take you to the city center. I highly recommend staying at this accommodation.
Room was okay. Dusty. Linen was clean. Bathroom was okay.
Breakfast was terrible. Cold stale pastries. Coffee machine out of service.
Area of town out of the way. Not a nice place.
Second time staying here, as I have family in Gilmerton. Great, convenient spot. Kind and friendly service. I've never attended breakfast so I cannot accommodate on that. The only downside is thin walls, so you can hear everything. On the flip side, both times I have stayed, it's never been fully booked. Would happily return!
Dirty, slow service if any, we were served breakfast 45 minutes late and were given milk that was off. We stood up and left straight away. Don't choose this place... Paid 100 quid for a single room on top of the crappy conditions.
A cama é confortável e o quarto agradável e silencioso 🙏
I was put in room 6 which was through a strange ante-room which was unlit.
There was very little privacy in the room with a large window straight out onto a main road - I had to have the curtains closed - a blind would have solved this issue.
The room was barren. One small towel, no bath mat, no hand towel. Lack of accessible plug sockets. Nowhere to plug in the hairdryer that you could then see a mirror.
The room was VERY noisy. The road noise isn’t the fault of the property but the old windows didn’t help. The internal noise went on until 11pm. The stairs to the staff areas were close by and were very creaky. There were constantly people up and down them. it sounded like furniture was being built in the room directly above! The doorbell went at 10.47pm which was a staff member returning and there was then loud chat as they went through the ante room and up the stairs.
I left at 7.40am and was told that breakfast wouldn’t be ready for another 20 mins.
Overall building security and room door security didn’t feel good. Single old Yale lock and no deadbolt or chain to secure from inside.
Parking was good and links to the city and bypass are good.
All staff were perfect. They made us feel special. Continental breakfast was not enough. Our room was close to street we could hear the car's sounds and there was a noise from stairs constantly. Hotel could be considered close to the city centre. Bus station in front of the hotel.
Was not for me. Out of the way, tiny shower, no lift,
Heather

One Night Stay in Edinburgh
We were only staying one night for to attend the Oasis gig at Murrayfield so only needed a room for the night and as far as that it ticked all the boxes, I cannot fault the staff they were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and the bed was really comfy, however, we went the bar to have a drink before we left and the gentleman advised the fridge didn't work so I had to have a warm bottle of beer, my wife had a vodka and coke and again no ice so it was a room temp vodka & coke, finally, we went for breakie and it was okay but the one small teapot between 2 didn't work, my wife got a full cup & I got the dreggs. I had no complaints with my stay really as only for 1 night but if I had to stay a few more nights I may not be so forgiving.
Excellent and friendly welcome, room was checked over before giving us the keys, answered our questions (regarding public transport to Edinburgh).
Good night’s sleep, comfortable and quiet.
Good continental breakfast in the morning was good, with good service, option of coffees which where brought to the table.
Would recommend this hotel, not large but good.

The Abbey is in a great location… about 20 mins drive from Edinburgh. The service was very good and the proprietors were lovely and offered great service. Breakfast was excellent. While the accommodation is basic it was clean and we were very comfortable there. TV also had Netflix which was great. A good place to stay if you’re on a budget and want to be close enough to Edinburgh to enjoy it without the expense and crowds!
