Located in Kings Salmon, right on Humboldt Bay, Cottage on the Canal it a perfect and affordable getaway. It features a spacious living area with access out to the private, furnished deck overlooking the canal, a full, well-equipped kitchen, and an inviting dining area. Borrow one of the provided kayaks and enjoy the bay!

Stay home, relax on the deck, and enjoy the serenity of the water. Cottage on the Canal is located in King Salmon, a small canal town less than seven miles south of Eureka. It is centrally located to all that the Redwood Coast has to offer including the various Redwood Parks and gorgeous beaches. You're also just 15 miles from the heart of Arcata, home of Cal Poly Humboldt, shops, restaurants, and so much more.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

The house was cozy, very clean, comfortable, well furnished and though it is pet friendly, it did not have any pet odors! We deeply appreciated the washing machine, large kitchen, and comfortable bed (after a week of car camping/traveling.) The location was perfect for exploring the area’s coastline and the Redwoods. The only drawback we found was the lack of central heating. There were space heaters but they didn’t adequately heat up the entire home on the chilly evenings or the one rainy day.

Overall this cottage worked after addressing some issues. The eight pillows on the two beds were all completely flat and only two inches high. The bed was like a brick. I had to buy an air mattress and pillow just to sleep in this space. During our stay there was no reliable Internet. On our last full day the modem for replaced and they refunded some funds for the inconvenience. Realizing this property is on the water explained the musty smell and we bought a candle to help. We had to get many things to make this space more comfortable and leave it all there for the next guest. There could have been more creature comforts provided to make this space feel/sleep and smell more pleasant.

Such an adorable home and an absolutely relaxing location. Loved kayaking around the harbor (kayaks were a bit tough to get in and out of the shed but we were determined, lol). I’d definitely stay at this sweet little home again.

We had a wonderful stay as a family of five — the place had ample room, and everything was impeccably clean and well-maintained. The kitchen was very well-stocked, making it easy to cook meals, and the beautiful deck was perfect for enjoying sunsets.Check-in was smooth, and the kitchen facilities, and proximity to restaurants, grocery stores, and the freeway made things very convenient.A special shoutout to Jennifer, who came by on short notice to check on what we thought was a dishwasher issue (it wasn’t!). Her quick response and friendly demeanor were much appreciated.Just a couple of minor things that weren’t a concern for us but might be worth noting: the bathroom doors didn’t latch securely from the inside, and the Wi-Fi signal was a bit weak in the master bedroom.Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place!

Great stay in a cozy little place. It was pretty clean. Only lost a star because Vacasa did not provide any replacement garbage bags. We had an ant problem during our stay and needed just 1 replacement bag to help keep the place clean and they were none to be found and Vacasa said that they do not provide any extras, just the 1 that already lined the bin. So whether you stay 1 night or 7 days like we did, you only get 1 garbage bag. I think if we are staying a full week, we deserve a few replacement bags.

Ideal spot for family of five

Cottage was exactly as described and perfect for our family of five for three nights. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Two bathrooms and washer/dryer was a huge plus! Kitchen had everything we needed (except coffee- bring your own) and everything was very clean. I enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning and the breeze through open windows at night was delightful.

this is a gem! very clean, quiet, right on the canal, short walk to the waterfront ... it had everything we needed. the management is by vacasa instead of the private owner. the keypad for opening the door was malfunctioning and it took them 3 hours to answer our text. the bicycles had flat tires, and there were no instructions about how to get the kayaks in and out of the canal. even with those issues, this place is sweet sweet. we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. i think that places that are operated by the owners tend to work out better.

Not as Expected Location & Weather

It was cold! Two days in a 62 degree house before we figured out heating. Only a breakfast/lunch place nearby within walking distance…and it was closed two days of our stay. When the sun came out it was pleasant but remote. One wine glass?! Most everything else was used but adequate. Very uncomfortable seating throughout.

Great Little House

This was a great little house perfect for a family of 4 with teens. Location was a good feature. Easy on/off from Hwy 101 yet very quiet. The kayaks, bicycles, and gas grill were all welcome items. The house was also very clean and had a well stocked kitchen. We are really happy we stayed here vs a hotel and we would stay again if we were ever in the area.
