The suite was very spacious; bathroom clean. The staff was extremely helpful, which made our short stay special. The property is within close proximity to the airport and downtown. There is a restaurant and cafe on property which was convenient. I was extremely happy to find laundry facilities.
The room was very clean and the kitchen is big enough to use for preparing meals. Only down side of these units is that they can smell of cleaning materials used to try to get rid of cigarette smoke, so if you have a sensitivity to that I would ask the staff for a change in room until you find a better one.
We come to Fairbanks once a year, usually in March, and always stay at the Wedgewood. Love to have a full kitchen so we don't have to eat out, although the restaurants in Fairbanks are great! It's got Wander Lake right there and it's close to Creamer's Field also.
All the hotel staff were kind and friendly.
I had some questions about the amenities in the hotel room, so I went to the front desk a few times to ask, and everyone explained everything to me very politely.
When I told them I didn't know how to turn on the hot water in the bathtub, a maintenance technician came up to my room to show me how, and since part of the bathroom fixture was broken, he fixed it right then and there.
The room had a kitchen (with a microwave, fridge-freezer, stovetop, oven, coffee maker, dishes, knives, forks, etc.) and a walk-in closet where I could hang and dry my laundry. Since I was traveling alone, I didn't cook, but the fridge-freezer and microwave were very useful. There's also a coin-operated laundry room. You need to purchase tokens at the front desk.
From the hotel, I could easily get to supermarkets like Walmart, Costco, and Fred Meyer, as well as some fast-food restaurants like McDonald's. If you have a car, it's just a few minutes' drive from the hotel. Since I don't have a driver's license, I walked to these places every day from 30 to 40 minute walk. It wasn't a hardship since it wasn't hot in October. I was able to lead a healthy lifestyle.
I've heard that, depending on the weather, you can see the aurora at Creamer's Field, located on the west side of the hotel. When I went to see it, there were a lot of clouds and I could hardly see anything, but I did manage to catch a glimpse of a single streak of the aurora.
What it is, is a fully furnished 1BR apt in an apartment complex. I guess you could say it is a hotel. I would not call it a resort, but that is fine. It is decent sized 1BR apt for the price of a tiny hotel room!! Close to shopping and restaurants. We shall return next winter.

It was the perfect place to have a staycation away from the kids
Staff were very friendly and also knowledgeable. Room was clean and also warm. Front desk was available 24/7 with any requests such as an early shuttle service.
Lots of room with a kitchen was nice. Close to everything but still secluded and quiet with hiking paths.

The hotel is more like an apartments which we appreciated as we had 5 people in our party. In a regular basis a luxury or basic hotels are fine as we don’t spend much time but to sleep but Instead of being crammed into a luxury hotel or parties being separate by rooms this worked out as we spent most of the time here in Jan as it’s dark out and cold.
Every staff encounter was nice and friendly, the rooms were outdated but it was clean.
Only thing that I would complain about was the loud water or faucet sound from other rooms.
Wonderful location to walk Wander Lake, the Auto Museum and Creamer's Field. The "suite" was a small apartment. It was really comfortable for a week's stay.
The rooms were actually suites that were quite comfortable. We especially liked the large closet that enabled us to unpack fully. The biggest downside was that the resort has no restaurant during the winter, so you either have walk a couple of miles in the cold or Uber for meals.
Mariko’s excellent customer service and Juanita’s patience were very valuable to us! Charlie while providing us a safe shuttle service, was helpful in giving us general informations about Fairbanks! Thomas was also kind and helpful by us tips about preparing ourselves for wintertime in Fairbanks.
