"This was the perfect venue for a family get-together of 6 adults and 7 dogs between us to celebrate my big birthday! Everything was on hand for the dogs from the outside warm wash facility to dog towels, protective throws, bowls, balls! Even though we had packed everything for them it was good to know! The safe, fenced paddocks provided endless fun for the dogs to play together - an idyllic spot. Of course the dogs come first on a holiday because if they are settled we can relax - and that we did! Comfortable sofas and lovely log fire for a foggy day! Thoughtful groceries were provided including scrummy cake - much appreciated! Lovely large pine table for playing board games in the evenings!All in all a lovely cottage for a very memorable family weekend - thank you so much "

"We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was absolutely spotless which was a great asset as we have stayed in things similar before and they have been dusty and unclean. We spoke to the man and the woman and both were lovely. The Little bottle of milk, shampoo, body wash, washing up liquid etc were a wonderful touch. Like other reviews a coffee table would be nice. Only thing I would let others know is the parking is very tight. We nearly came in our VW van and I'm glad we didn't as we wouldn't have fit in the parking space. We went in my Fiat Punto and there was only just enough room. So if you have a big car just be mindful of this. We also thought a sign saying Ivy Lodge would have been good as we drove up and down the lane a few times and ended up knocking on the house asking for directions, as we were unsure which house it was, but it turned out to be the right house. But overall it was a lovely chilled break. Rudyard lake in walking distant. Leek, Buxton the Roaches etc within half an hour. I'm sure we will be back in the summer."

"Everything was clean, a welcome bottle of wine, plenty of tea coffee and biscuits, so despite bad weather we had a great weekend, our third time in three years!"

"The staff and the breakfast were amazing however the rooms have no shampoo (body wash is not going to do it for me), no lotion, no tissues and no phone. No phone makes it extremely difficult for overseas visitors to contact reception. Even the charming lady on reception who confirmed that these amenities were not offered in the hotel states that they were a budget hotel ‘but maybe not - we are quite expensive’. "

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Barn. There were 8 of us in total sharing the three bedrooms and despite the bad weather we were warm and comfy in the well kitted out cottage for our two night stay. The Barn is on a farm which itself is isolated, but we enjoyed the quiet countryside (and the boys loved the sheep!) and just used our cars to easily get around into nearby Leek and for our visit to the Peak wildlife park. Would recommend for a visit."
