"We stayed two nights in Kakukan room with a private semi open-air bath with a half-board meal plan. Really enjoyed the stay; will go back again.
Staff & Service: Incredible hospitality. Everyone spoke excellent English; we hardly had to use our Google Translate app at all!
Room & Bath: Very spacious and well-proportioned. The vanity area is massive, with room for two chairs and a coffee table. The in-room onsen layout is excellent, featuring a safe step outside and a two-tier step inside for easy access.
Minor Compliant: 1) The closet is on the opposite side of the room, not attached to the bedroom. 2) The bathroom exhaust fan is linked to the light dimmer control; a standalone fan switch would better manage condensation. 3) Too many light switches without labels. 4) Living room is half tiles and half tatami; I wish the coffee/tea counter on the tile side.
Meal: We enjoyed a private dining room for both dinner and breakfast. Executive Chef Osamu-san and his staff were incredibly attentive, explaining each dish beautifully. Thank you, Chef Osamu-san and team!
Public Onsen: The historic Kyuan-no-Yu and regular bathhouse are amazing. True to the website, they feel cozy despite the high ceilings. I was lucky enough to enjoy both completely to myself!
Bonus: The nearby pond loop trail is fantastic. Do the full hike, then head straight back to the ryokan for a rewarding soak."
"Good condition property, free onsite parking, superb helpful and welcoming staff, very good amenities, very fast internet, average sized room to Japanese standard, sumptuous breakfast, enough varieties for Vegans and Vegetarians.
Value for money hotel.
Just that the Breakfast Buffet food is only labelled in Japanese, thus need enquiry from staff about content and ingredients."
"This APA location was shiny, new and nice all over. My biggest complaint about the stay was with the city and its sidewalks. Read on if you're interested! **Positives: *Various signs of of the hotel being fancy and nice: Slick lights on the keycard scanners, near-silent elevators...and that's all that comes to mind atm. *Hot coffee in the vending machine! That was a nice change of pace, after a week in Aomori where I had to go into a conbini to get a couple cans of hot coffee after meals. *Room was all-around "pretty darn comfortable." *AC was a standout -- unlike AC that you have to adjust every time you notice it's either too hot or too humid in the room, this AC kept the temperature even and super-comfortable, late-July. It even emitted a very relaxing windy sound. **Neutral: * I didn't do laundry, so I didn't notice how expensive it was. **Negatives: *Yikes, the noise. *A ~20min walk from the station to the hotel, with no tram. There might be busses from the station to the hotel; I didn't check. *During that 20min walk to/from the station (and another stroll on another day), I looked for a path that had sidewalk all the way from the station to the hotel (checking the 3 routes in Google Maps); I didn't find one. Not at ALL convenient, when you have a suitcase in tow. You can follow sidewalk from the station to a 7-11 parking lot not far away, cut across it and return to sidewalk...but that's apparently the best you can do, atm. Develop that city please, Hachinohe."
While exploring the area, visit family-friendly sights like YS Arena Hachinohe, or get outside and enjoy nature at Misawa City Shiminnomori Park. Hachi-shoku Center and Towada Art Center are a couple of places you'll find in the larger area.
What’s a vacation rental in Gonohe like?
Vacation rentals are privately owned properties where you can stay for several days or longer in Gonohe. Vacation rentals offer amenities like WiFi and washers and dryers so you'll have all the conveniences of home. If you're concerned about cleanliness, vacation rentals can offer a sense of security away from public hotel elevators and busy lobbies while still allowing you the experience of travel. You'll also find more space in a vacation rental than in a hotel, which is another reason why a vacation rental is a popular option for a family getaway.
