With oceanfront views and access to a relaxing swimming pool, this Captains Walk condo is the perfect place to take a vacation and escape from the daily stresses of everyday life.

This property sits just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean via boardwalks. It is in the center of all of Hilton Head Island's activity, so shops, eateries, and spas are a short drive away. Paved walkways allow you to access all amenities through the landscaped area, so you can swim in the shared pool area with its expansive sunbathing deck.

This two-bedroom condo comes with a fully equipped kitchen, plank floors, beautiful views of the ocean, and free WiFi. Spend the evening watching a movie on the 48-inch flatscreen TV or taking in the sunset past the sliding doors that lead to the balcony. The master bedroom has access to the oceanfront balcony, as well as a king bed, a flatscreen TV, and a private bathroom with walk-in shower. The other bedroom also features a flatscreen TV. Feel free to pack light, as a private washer/dryer lets you take care of laundry.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Started out pretty rough, ended better

The A/C went out at midnight on our second night. Very hot air was blowing out regardless of what setting we had the thermostat on. Had to turn it off at the breaker box. Called the “number”, No solution was offered by local operations manager. After suffering through the night I asked for fans that were delivered by afternoon. Despite many calls, texts and chats with many representatives no one ever followed up with us to let us know what, if anything, was been done. Communication was terrible. Finally after asking for a supervisor, I spoke to Michael, around 5:45 the next evening , who finally got things in motion. Then another “local manager” called me around 6:45. The A/C was finally working correctly when we returned around 9:15. It seems our report just got passed around and around with no one actually working on it. No one ever called to let us know what was being done. It’s so frustrating when you pay for a unit with A/C for our vacation and spend time trying to get a repairman to repair it and no one within Vacasa seemed to care, until I finally reached Michael.

Perfect beach vacation

Condo is perfect for a beach vacation. Great ocean view. Quick walk down to the beach. Condo stocked with all basic necessities (along with lots of Tupperware for packing food into your cooler!). Lots of great towel hang bars for wet swim suits or towels.

Great Property subpar unit

We had never been to HH before this trip so we were excited to see this place and enjoy. The unit was mostly ok. I had noticed after grabbing several dirty dishes from the cabinet that it seems maybe dishes had been put back dirty. I had to rewash most dishes in the cupboard. The guest room and bathroom were nice for my daughter besides maybe having better curtains to cut out the light from the hallway since it is the front bedroom. The master bedroom mattress is by far THE WORST thing to sleep on. I can't believe with all these bad reviews on the mattress that they did not replace it. I can sleep on a lot of things but this is noisy, hard as a rock, and the sheets felt like I had tracked sand in on my feet! One night I had to get up to be sure there weren't sand fleas or other bugs in the bed. The patio furniture is ok...nothing to write home about. All in all if it wasn't for the easy beach access and pool then this unit would not have been tolerable.

Great location!

My family enjoyed our most recent trip to Hilton Head Island. We have been 3 times in the last four years and stayed at a different resort each time. This was our favorite so far. The condo was nicely updated and convenient to the pool and oceanfront. There were plenty of linens, towels, pillows for comfort and enough dishes, pots and pans for our family of four to cook and eat in at every meal. We enjoyed the pool and ocean every day of our vacation. And I especially enjoyed the scenic view from the balcony.

Location worth it, outdated furniture, dishes and crockery, DOG HAIR

Of course the King bed squeaked like everyone else states, doubt that will ever be fixed. Broken blinds shoved behind master bed, not one coffee cup matches, crockery in kitchen so hodge podge, DOG HAIR EVERYWHERE (thought this was no pet unit???), caked on all blankets and under tables. I'd suggest washing all bedding and linens. The cleaning at the complex is always ehh. We've been staying at Captains Walk condos for many years and I can assure anyone renting this or anther the cleaning will alway be subpar. But the location and proximity to the beach you can't beat. So if you can get over the outdated furnishings and the expected cleanliness, this place is ok. VACASA was quick to respond, check in was easy.

Dirty unit

I wrote a review to Vacassa whereas they represented this rental for VBRO. My experience with Vacassa was terrible. We had issues that needed to be addressed that went unanswered the entire stay. We were unable to access the beach gate because the code that was emailed to us upon check in only worked that day. We had to walk down the beach with our stuff and go thru the Marriott and down the street back to the property and access it from the road. As for this unit, it is filthy dirty. The kitchen had water all over the floor when we arrived. It seemed the freezer door had been left ajar prior to our rental. The coffee pot is worse than anything you can find in a landfill. The one pan we used had dried up pasta stuck all over the bottom. The master bed mattress squeaks loudly with every move. The master bath toilet seat is almost falling off. The outdoor patio furniture, 2 pieces, a chair and lounger look like someone got them from the landfill when they went there for the coffee pot. All in all, very disappointing. I have stayed at Captains Walk in the past and I love the property and the location but this was one of the worse experiences with VBRO/Vacassa ever!

Overall, a great place to stay!

My husband, 5 year old daughter and parents enjoyed our stay! The view of the ocean is perfect, the Dunes buggy transportation was so convenient and we found plenty of family activities within a short bike ride or car ride away! One of the things that we noticed from previous people who stayed at this unit was the constant complaints of the king bed being uncomfortable and noisy. This was 100% accurate, unfortunately. I figured they changed out the mattress since so many people were unhappy about it. It was very disappointing. The other issue we had was that we pay a cleaning fee but the unit was not cleaned properly. There was food on/in the sofa, the floors had food on them still and the shower heads were covered in product/ film. The Vacasa team did ask us if they could make it right and send someone, but my family decided to just clean ourselves because we were already unpacked and trying to settle in. But they did respond quickly. The on-site pool is great to take a break from the ocean, it doesn’t get cleaned and gets crowded but our daughter enjoyed it! I didn’t see a point of going to the welcome center to pick up parking passes(we didn’t have a car and costs more for Uber to travel there.) maybe just keep passes and welcome packet on the counter of the unit? I would stay here again, even at this unit if the king mattress is repaired!

Great location, but not clean

While the view and configuration of the property were exactly as advertised, the property was both unsanitary and dirty, with bug issues, upon our arrival. To their credit, however, once the property management team was contacted, they took immediate steps to try and correct the serious cleanliness issues. Unfortunately, the first couple of days in particular were not a pleasant experience.

Awesome View!

Beautiful ocean front view! Condo was clean and very comfortable. Had to call maintenance to repair disposal and they were quick to respond. Great vacation!

Great Choice!

Great location, short walk to beach & less crowded area, centrally located on island, nice community, everything easily accessible via walking, biking, driving. Great space, larger than it looked in pictures, plenty of closet storage & hangars in both bedrooms, plenty of kitchen cabinet space, walkway outside entry door was perfect space to leave beach chairs/umbrellas/bags to keep sand outside. Washer/dryer worked well, just heed notes on dryer dial. One of cleaner rentals we've experienced, little bit of sand, but that's to be expected! Plenty of good chairs on deck (5), comfortable living room & bedrooms. Minor cons, living room & bedrooms were dark, and rental missing some basics you would normally find like pen/pencil/paper, salt/pepper/cooking oil, a multipurpose cleaner, deck of cards, games, etc.

Very nice

The property was very nice. The king size bed needs replacing, but ok for a couple of nights. Unfortunately we were not notified the pool was being redone and there would be noise and dust just below our balcony, would have considered alternative condo had we known 😕

Good as advertised; although a few details need attention

The unit is very spacious and well located. Its proximity to the pool and beach access makes it an excellent choice for those who intend to use them frequently. The view is espectacular! The kitchen is well equipped with the essential items you need for any regular breakfast/meal, and the garbage/recycle area for that building floor is conveniently located right in front of the unit. The living room furniture is comfortable. The two full beds fit comfortably in the room and leaves plenty of room for movement. Plenty of towels for 6 people were provided. Constructive feedback: 1) The unit fits 6 people, but the dining table is designed to fit 4. While possible to squeeze 6, it is not comfortable to do so. 2) The window curtains are overdue for replacement (hard to pull, broken blinds, and some don’t fully close). 3) Guest bathroom toilet flapper/buoy needs replacement; don’t stop filling the tank. 4) The unit will benefit from a deep clean b/c there is too much dust in the less heavily trafficked areas. 5) The dishwasher is not effective in cleaning Nonetheless, overall I’ll certainly consider this unit in the future.

Vacations are too short

Second-floor unit overlooking the pool has hardwood laminate floors, nice furnishings, and plenty of room for four. One flight of stairs gets you to the unit. Only small nitpick was no pantry in the kitchen. Overall, wonderful condo.

Great location!

This condo is in a great location. Palmetto Dunes is amazing and probably the nicest place to stay in HHI. The condo felt open and spacious. The pool and the beach front access was the best part. Generally, this condo was pretty clean. The only negative feedback I have is that there is a large area of black mold above the toilet in the master bathroom that really should be fixed. It was pretty gross looking. The shower in the second baths drain was clogged and there was quite a bit of sand on the floors throughout the condo. The condo was great, but needs a good cleaning.

Trip Sept 8th-12th

Would stay there again, only couple of issues, the master bed box springs need to be replaced. Awful squeeking, hard to sleep. Could have nicer pillows.. very lumpy, and water pressure in hall bath shower, very weak. Other than that, very nice. Great view of ocean and pool. Has a great time.

Wondering stay

Everything was great. Location was awesome. 3 min walk to the beach. Pool downstairs. Quiet. Only thing About the cleanliness, the floor had sand in every room which stuck to our feet and socks. Not sure if the place wasn’t vacuumed or if it had come from the balcony which is covered in sand. You can’t see it but you will feel it. But overall great stay!

August Vacation

Location is fantastic in terms of proximity to the beach and other amenities (tennis, kayaking, a general store, restaurants, etc.) are a 5 minute walk or bike ride away. The entire Palmetto Dunes Resort is beautiful! The condo is nice and the kitchen has recently been updated. Couple of downsides: There was mold on ceiling in master bathroom and above doorway between main living room & master bedroom. We posed a question to the property manager using our VRBO account before we arrived (inquired about how to receive a package while at the property), but never heard back. We also tried calling, but were placed on hold for over 15 minutes at which point we gave up.

Run down and dirty

This is our 7th year at the property and this condo was definitely the most worn down / dirty we’ve stayed in. Shower door was coming off, hair in the drain and on shower walls, food smeared on the sliding door, paper towel was BLACK when I wiped up some spilled water in the kitchen on the first day we arrived, can barely pull out dishwasher racks, only high heat works on drier, water in secondary shower just trickles out, fuzzy mold inside the blender (which barely works)....just to name a few. Won’t rent this one again.

Owners need to have typed instructions for tv remotes. 3 in master bedroom & 2 in living room.

Had a difficult time turning on & adjusting volume.

Beautiful View - condo needs TLC

This condominium property is beautiful and well maintained. We also enjoyed the beautiful view of the pool and ocean. The condo itself was disappointing. It is obvious that the unit has not had a thorough cleaning in a long time and smelled when we arrived. The master commode was not bolted to the floor well, the master shower head loose from the wall, the second bath shower head worked so poorly our son had to shower in the master. Pool toys just piled in corner of patio. I could go on. Bottom line - would rent at this property again but would look for another unit.
