The Belfry is a unique old building with a first class modern interior. The room were very well appointed with alll the usual facilities one would expect from a high class hotel. The breakfasts were individually cooked and presented in a timely manner, with a wide and excellent selection to choose from. This was our first visit to the Belfry and it certainly won’t be our last. Jeff Winstanley
We arrived a little early but Sarah was very accommodating and personally showed us to our room (The Coleridge Room) and other facilities at the property. Our room was very clean and tidy. Our bed at home is large but the one in the room was VERY wide (and proved very comfortable)! The ensuite facilities were very good as were the toiletries provided. Tea/coffee-making facilities were provided. It was a very warm day and night when we visited and we much appreciated the pedestal fan in the room. There was another smaller one in the wardrobe but we did not use that.
We did visit the Yarcombe Inn, just a few yards across the road from the Belfry, which did serve food and we had a meal there which was well cooked to order by the wife of the couple who run the pub. The menu was not extensive but we expected that. I also sampled a couple of real ales and Pam had a freshly made Aperol Spritz, with added Prosecco - much enjoyed. While we were there a small local band were setting up and we were there long enough to hear some decent music and singing from them.
The evening we stayed at the Belfry coincided with England playing France in the FIFA World Cup 3rd/4th play off final in the USA which did not kick off until 10.00pm UK time, which I watched on the wide-screen TV in our room.
Breakfast was very good - slightly unusual as ordered and delivered through a serving hatch - but the food was well-cooked and nicely presented on the plates.
We certainly enjoyed our stay.

Directly on the A30 road quite noisy, although earplugs were supplied in the bedrooms
The room was very clean, hosts were lovely. Breakfast was amazing. Only downside to the stay was I like the window open at night and the church chimes on the half hour and on the hour, but ear buds are provided👍 we had a lovely stay and will definitely stay again…
What a lovely time we had at the Belfry. It was our first time there and we stayed in the Tennyson room which had lovely views of the countryside and a feature stained glass window. On arrival, we were met by Neil who showed us to our room which was very clean and comfortable, with toiletries, dressing gowns and tea and coffee making facilities provided. Fresh milk and fruit juice were available at all times. A great choice of breakfast options were available and the food was excellent. Neil and Sarah are great hosts and we were made to feel very welcome. All in all we had a great time and we will certainly revisit. Definitely recommended.
My room was very clean. The breakfast in particular was excellent. Good quality cereals available, and an excellent cooked breakfast. Obviously uses good quality produce, including good quality tea, always a bonus. We’d definitely stop here again.
Lovely clean room with very comfortable bed and excellent shower. Superb views across to the hills behind the village. Very nice toiletries provided and excellent tea/coffee/hot chocolate in room facilities with biscuits! I really enjoyed the comfortable residents lounge which was unexpected but a nice place to relax and read a book (motor racing or vehicle enthusiasts will enjoy the book selection). The breakfast was very high quality with local
Ingredients and beautifully presented. Gluten free and vegetarian options were available. We would happily stay again. Only slight downside is the church bells which chime all through the night (why?). The proprietors very thoughtfully provided ear plugs but if the windows are open these are insufficient against the bells which provide an alarm clock on the hour, every hour throughout the night. Keeping the windows closed would probably alleviate this but if you like fresh air at night and are a light sleeper it might be difficult to get a good nights sleep which is a shame as the beds are so comfortable. We would definitely stay again though as The Belfry is very good value and extremely well appointed. There is a pub literally across the road which serves food on some evenings (think it was Wednesday to Saturday during our visit). We ate there and it was very convenient to be able to walk there, friendly and reasonably priced pub grub options.
A beautiful building, in a perfect setting. Very clean and tidy, with excellent amenities. Host was very friendly, and breakfast was great. Would certainly recommend 👍👍
Breakfast ok , fruit pot delicious, not much choice other than full english or the ingredients of fill english,or smoked salmon room was lovely, just no interaction from owners other than shouting your name through the breakfast hatch or rushing clearing tables while still eating. Property up for sale so maybe they've lost the joy in hosting
Beautiful building, nice large room, super comfortable mattress, duvet and pillows. Lovely little touches like earplugs (yes the church clock chimes through the night, I didn’t hear it but my husband did), make up remover pads and shower caps. Lovely breakfast cooked to order. Super friendly people, and the communal fridge under the stairs with milk and juices to help yourself to is a really thoughtful addition.
