My partner and I usually stay here because it is close to our friends' home in Houston, and because it is dog-friendly. We have had issues with staff behind the counter being rude before, but have largely brushed it off.
This stay was horrendous. The man behind the counter was rude from the start. I reserved a King room, non-smoking. The room was dirty and reeked of cigarette smoke, and there was no remote for the T.V. I went to the office to express my displeasure; the man behind the counter raised his voice at me and said there were no free rooms. When I asked if he was going to discount my stay, since it wasnt what I asked for, he again yelled at me and said I would have to wait an hour for another room. As I had a schedule to keep, this was not feasible. I told him I was going to leave a bad review, and he said something in a language I do not speak, but I presume was not a friendly salutation.
On top of that, the comforter on the bed was tattered and literally had holes in it, and the shower wouldn't stay hot for more than a few seconds at a time. The T.V. was set at 100 volume every time it was turned on, and the channel guide left in the room in no way reflects the actual channels on the T.V. Also, the remote only worked for channel up/channel down, power, and volume.
I expect things to not be perfect with a budget motel, but this stay was truly below the bar. There's little worse than staying somewhere dirty and uncomfortable, all while getting yelled at.
