DAY TRIPS OUTSIDE RESORT:

Outside of the resort there are great activities which I strongly recommend doing. Here we have the spectacular El Yunque Forest with numerous trails that lead you to beautiful waterfalls where you can swim. I would recommend going to LaMina Falls and perhaps to Mount Brittan if you want to get some exercise in. In addition, you can do zip lining (available for all ages and ability levels) along the lush mountains of the forest. Rent a mountain bike or ATV (4 track) to ride along the scenic rivers of the forest (in our case we like it when it is raining as the more muddy, the more fun it is). You can also book a catamaran trip for snorkeling —You have a whole boatload of people who go with you and it becomes one big party for all ages.—It includes lunch and your drinks. They run about $75 to $85 per person including the drinks and snorkel gear. They run daily trips. The bioluminescent lagoon night trip is not to be missed. you can do it by kayak or electric boat, tours via kayaks. Also, an inexpensive day trip on the Fajardo ferry ($4 round trip per person) to Flamenco Beach on Culebra Island, an unspoiled beach constantly named as one of the top 10 most beautiful in the world by travel magazine & Travel Channel.

A day trip to Old San Juan (the oldest city in the USA) is a must, the old city is to visit the biggest fortress on this side of the hemisphere. In addition to great restaurants, bars, casinos, clubs and shopping in stores like Gucci and Cartier. I would also recommend the Bacardi Factory Tour--great--and 2 free drinks.

Another one is the Camuy Cavers tour--very nice. Then there is the Arecibo Radio Telescope Observatory--wonderful--used in many 007 movies and the movie 'Contact'. I really love going to the lighthouse in Cabo Rojo also--huge cliffs with crashing surf--wonderful--and the salt flats at sunset are spectacular. Then to do the BBQ Pig tour in Guavate is great--lots of great food places along the road up the mountain--and some artisan things to buy too.

There are Bosque Floriham Canopy Tours--and cave tours and bicycle tours through Family Adventures.

Then there are tours of the Capital House in San Juan.

Puerto Rico has so much to offer. Most guests stay a week and they say it is not enough time.
