"Sept 2026. A 5-star review for a classic motel. Trails motel is a historic motel from the early post-war era of travel when ordinary Americans first began to use reliable automobiles to explore their vast nation. The classic motel featured a one-story design with rooms facing the parking lot. Travelers parked in front of their room, or very close, and unloaded right into their rooms. Hence, the new term motor-hotel shortened to motel. Trails has been updated since its first construction, and is well maintained. Trails is small with less than two dozen rooms, and by the time we settled in, all of the rooms were occupied. Parking is limited. Most of the guests appeared to be on vacation, and, like us, they were older. Other than the new cars, one could think it was '57 again. All we needed was a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air to complete the picture. Rooms are clean. Beds are great. Firm enough for me, and soft enough for my companion. The pool is operational, and other guests took a dip while we were there. The day we were there the high was near 100, and I'm sure a cool dip refreshed everyone who partook. Location is great for access to Death Valley. No breakfast or coffee is available. Safety is high. Highly recommended: We stay here if we return to Lone Pine. The proprietor wore a Cowboy shirt the day we were there, which tickled us to no end. ;-)"

"A nice location to stop when travelling through eastern California. Clean rooms, good air con and a friendly manager. Easy location to access. Whilst it’s a little dated it’s more than comfortable and quiet. It’s a great spot to explore from. I would stay here again and recommend it!"

"Nice little place that was perfect for 2 days in Lone Pine. It would be nice if they added a $30 Roku stick or something similar to the TV so you could actually use it. Otherwise, plan ahead and bring your own or a HDMI cable so you can plug in your laptop. Other than the TV being useless, the place had everything needed. I'd totally stay here again."
