"You can't beat this location if you want to wander around Galena and the riverfront! Everything felt clean, safe and we had everything we needed, if in a bit of strange and old-world set up! This is an old building with lots of "charm", but as long as you are prepared for that you'll have a lovely stay. "

"High Street Inn was easily our favorite B&B we’ve ever stayed at! The staff/groundskeepers are so warm and welcoming - you can feel the sincerity that they want you to enjoy your stay! The bed in our suite was very comfortable, and we are usually picky over that. Also, breakfast was very delicious! This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Main Street. Some people might think the walk back could be challenging (it’s a decently steep hill and a set of stairs) but we didn’t mind the short hike after eating our way around the town. We will definitely be returning! Thank you for your hospitality!"

"The 1842 Bavarian Brew House in Galena was the perfect place for a memorable family celebration. My two sisters, my niece, my mom, and I stayed there to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday, and the house made the whole weekend feel special.The location was fantastic—close enough to downtown Galena that getting into town was quick and easy, but still quiet enough to relax and enjoy time together. The home itself has clearly been beautifully restored. Everything felt thoughtfully redone while still keeping the charm of an older historic building.One of the highlights was the large dining room. My sister organized a painting activity for us on the first night and we had plenty of space to spread out and chat while we did our paintings.The basement was another standout feature. It’s such a unique space, with darts and shuffleboard that kept us entertained late into the night. My sisters and I stayed up laughing and playing games, which ended up being some of the best moments of the trip.Overall, the house struck a great balance between historic character and modern comfort. It gave us plenty of room to celebrate, relax, and spend real time together. I would absolutely recommend the 1842 Bavarian Brew House for a group trip to Galena, especially for families or friends looking for a place with personality and space to gather"
