This house was an excellent choice for our annual girls’ weekend in Big Canoe. In our 50s, we don’t want to share small beds - this house had plenty of large beds. We loved that the kitchen was open to the living area. The management team was extremely responsive. We couldn’t get the fireplace started - they sent a helpful video; when that didn’t work, they sent an actual live person. (It wasn’t human error - there was a broken valve that he was able to fix.) Plenty of parking for 8 cars. Beautiful view of the lake. The check-in materials included a helpful video of the drive in to Big Canoe. We had a lovely time. Our only miss was a tall table for a jigsaw puzzle - we had to use the coffee table, which was low.
The views from the back deck and from the rear of the house are spectacular. The functionality of the home met the needs of my large extended family which made the stay convenient. Though some cabinets in the kitchen are outdated and are in need of repair, the kitchen is well appointed with plenty of space for storing food and items needed to cook. This made the kitchen wonderful for a large group. Bedrooms overall were comfortable.
Issues with communication with the management company did exist. My husband communicated a question about whether a Keurig type machine was available or would we need to bring one as it was our preference. The company did not respond. The directions to enter the property were good to get into the resort but inaccurate to get into the house. The main door entrance lock requires different directions than listed. For us this was a minor annoyance. The master bedroom was very comfortable but the master bathroom was in need of a real cleaning. The tile floor though swept needed cleaning as well as the master shower. This I had to do. . When you exit a shower you should not wipe up water that causes your towel to become brown when you wipe it up. Black mold was in the shower. Cleaning supplies in the house were accessible so I was able to clean this. Blankets and sheets in one basement bedroom were not changed. This was evident based on dirt residue and body odor on bedding. Using the machines Managemnet should be checking their cleaning crew.

Scenic views, lovely house, but the details caused problems especially the Refrigerator!
This house is amazing. It has amazing views, lots of space, lots of parking, great amenities (hot tub, etc.), and very comfortable beds. It was also very clean. The Big Canoe community is fabulous.
However, if we were to go back to Big Canoe, we will find another house. It’s the little things that added up and made the stay more challenging.
Fridge is still broken. According to past reviews this is an ongoing issue. Seeing this, we specifically emailed and asked about the fridge issue and we were told it was fixed. It was not. Fridge and freezer both broken, well after the 8 hours they claim it takes to cool down our food. Property Manager came first. Then fridge repair person came by a few hours after we were told he would be there. We discovered the back of the fridge was really dirty and could see inside the back panel – it was full of dust. He cleaned out the behind the fridge and all the dust in back of the fridge and behind the panel. It worked better after that. We are not sure it’s completely fixed because some of our frozen stuff wasn’t totally frozen. But it was better. It seems after all the prior complaints this could have been resolved before we got there.
We asked ahead of time if any local pizza places delivered to the house. We received a list of three places. None of them delivered to this house. We drove into town and went somewhere else.
We asked ahead of time about coffee makers. We were told there was no K cup coffee maker. But there i
Beautiful home with lots of space and incredible views
The home was beautiful. The views were incredible. Can’t wait to come back. There were seven of us with lots of extra room. couple bedrooms we didn’t even use. highly recommend anyone staying at big Canoe Georgia, which is actually has fantastic golf, food and people. can’t wait to come back and when we do we’re renting this house.
The cabin shows we’ll just like the photos. Not having a full propane tank was a little disappointing and once I informed the front management they sent an email for $50 for an additional. The Wi-Fi password was incorrect as well.
Overall, we had a good stay at this property for Christmas. We enjoyed the family environment, spacious floor plan and scenic views. Although we had a good experience, there were several things that could be improved:
- The rug in the living room was very dirty and we did not feel comfortable with our baby crawling around on the floor
- The property had 2 beautiful fireplaces and outdoor fire pits that we would have loved to use, but we couldn't get any of them to work
- Many of the dishes in the cabinets/ drawers contained dried food particles
- The second bedroom on the main floor was freezing cold and required us to get a space heater
- When we arrived at the house, we couldn't find the lock box at first. We were able to enter through a back door that was left unlocked. We later found out this door did not lock at all which made us feel the house was not secured
- It would have been nice if some basic holiday decor was provided (Christmas tree, wreaths, or lights) since we booked the house specifically for the holidays. When we booked another house in Big Canoe in 2020 it was decorated for the holiday season.
While these things were annoying, they did not damper our overall experience. There are soooooo many beautiful properties on Big Canoe so do your research and choose what you feel is best for you and your family. This one was pretty pricey so I'm rating according to the price.
DO NOT STAY HERE it's filthy and *Cabins for You was HORRIBLE.
1) Impossible getting answers on anything before check in & it was so bad that we asked for the owners to call us before we ever came into town & we STILL have not heard from them.
2) We took photos the day we arrived. The main rug was SO gross we didnt want to touch it so we rolled it up and put it in the corner.
3) Master comforter was discussing with brown makeup all over & other bedrooms had dirty sheets too. The kitchen has missing items and I took photos to show. Ex: crockpot with no insert
5) Missing Light bulbs-dark closets
6) Two tiny bars of soap for 12 people and four days
I sent photos to *Cabins for You and they said they would get back to me for possible reimbursement but they never did. I contacted them again & that's when they said they were going to charge me $115 for leaving the house in such a mess. They didn't want to be caught for not caring for the house & they lied . They even sent an email w the dirty rug as if we did it. They sent me photos of linens on the floor, but the directions were to strip bed & leave linens in laundry rm floor which is exactly what we did. They sent me photos of garbage saying we left it and that garbage was NOT there when we left. We paid over 7k for 4 days and they did not like me exposing them & theycharged us $115 saying we left a mess. Someone needs to find the owners of this property & tell them!! Don't believe anything from Cabins4you
The home was just as it looks. It was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The only issue I had was trying to get the rental company to let me know what we needed to bring and what was supplied. They answered other questions, but after several emails, I gave up. We had a wonderful time and I would return. The house is amazing!

Perfect for family
Beautiful home with plenty of room for family. View of Lake Petit is lovely and the deck os nice throughout the day. Great to have screened and unscreened outdoor areas. Enjoyed a nice, relaxing weekend with family.
I needed a home with room for 8 adults to get together for the weekend. This house had everything we needed and plenty of space (beds/bathrooms) for all of us. Hosts were very accommodating and timely in their responses. Would definitely stay again.
Great experience. Contact the amenity providers the week before finding was is available. For example, golf, Pickleball and tennis were all booked until mid afternoon. There were no basketballs available. We had a late afternoon rehearsal dinner and wedding two of the afternoons so we could not enjoy all Big Canoe had to offer.
