"New owners just took over the hotel, so several things that weren't taken care of, I easily overlooked. For example, the pool was not open, but I found out that it hadn't been open for 7 years! The staff, however, was friendly and competent. My room was very clean and the a/c was wonderful! I have a feeling that with new ownership this hotel will do very well and I will be back again!"

"Came in with our family of 8, ages 9-22. The availability of kayaks, paddle boards, fire pit, hottub and sauna kept everyone busy. Cooked all of our meals, as the kitchen is nicely stocked. The cleanliness of the house and property were top line! We pulled our own boat up, and although the water by the dock is shallow, we had no issues keeping it docked for the week. Caught a nice amount of fish...crappie and bass were keepers. 17" bass was our largest catch. Daily drives into Duluth to see all the sites made the trip busy, but well worth the time!"

"Highly recommend this property! Very clean, nice 2 bedroom cabin in a very convenient location. Close to town and bike trails and Jay Cooke State Park. Also very close to Duluth, so we had a great visit to Canal Park. And at the end of each adventurous day, we got to go back to this nice country cabin, and grill out and have a nice private campfire! Nice furnishings and comfortable beds! Easy check-in and check-out. Owners were very nice to deal with and responded to our texts promptly! One of the best places we have rented out!"

"Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The property is a great setup for a large family, the beds were very comfortable, and the kids had a blast using the kayaks. We would absolutely consider staying here again because the location and layout were exactly what we were looking for. There were a few areas that could be improved. At check-in, I had to reach out to request the door code because it hadn’t been sent automatically. It also took some time to locate information about the property since most of it was posted on a bulletin board inside the house. In my experience with other vacation rentals, that information is usually sent before arrival, so the check-in process felt less seamless than expected. I also wish a more secure, unique door code had been assigned for our stay, as it didn’t inspire much confidence from a security standpoint. The biggest issue was the cleanliness. The home wasn’t unsanitary, but it was overdue for a thorough deep cleaning. There was an abundance of alive and dead bugs throughout the house, including a blanket behind the couch that was covered in them. We also ran into a few maintenance issues, a shower door that didn’t fully close & rocked while in use, one of the stove burners wasn’t working, & doors with testy locks. None of these issues ruined our trip, and we genuinely enjoyed the property. However, for the price point, I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and a bit more attention to maintenance and the guest experience."

"Great camper in an easy to find spot. Easy access from car to camper. Quick walk down to the river on the back of the property. A/c worked great, yard games available, No cell or WiF- so phones did not work at all-which was just fine for most of us but one teenager was devastated. Nice to be able to bring our dog with us."

"Very old lodge with a lot of history. Rooms nicer than expected, renovated, clean, and surprisingly thick walls, couldn’t hear a neighbor. Comfortable bed, gorgeous views, very peaceful. The family is doing a very good job bringing this property back to life."
