Shutters on the Banks

"This was our first time staying at shutters on the banks. We stayed for a whole week as a family of four. Overall it was a very positive experience! The hotel pools and hot tub were very well maintained and clean. We were just steps away from the beach which was amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and inviting. The breakfast was above average and what you would expect but included for free and had many different options which was nice. The only complaints we had was the washer dryer was out of order for our whole stay and there was only one for the entire property. Also the rooms are on the smaller side and you could hear our upstairs neighbors walking around pretty clearly. Other than that everything was very nice! The bathrooms are an adequate size and wow the water pressure! It was almost too much! They do offer 24/7 coffee in the breakfast area which is very nice but our last day when we went to leave the door was locked so I was not able to get anything that morning granted it was like four in the morning. I would definitely recommend staying here."

"We stayed at the Cypress House Inn in August 2026, I really can't say enough good things about our stay. We had personalized service from the moment we walked in, and by the time we left, Bill and Veda had us feeling like family! My mom, sister and I stayed in the loft, and it was the perfect size for us - plenty of room, and so thoughtfully appointed: dishes, silverware, even wine glasses (guess they knew we were coming!), a full refrigerator, microwave, sink, Keurig (and even provided coffees, creamers, tea, etc). The room itself probably could have used a little more light, but it was comfortable and decorated nicely, not over-the top like some B&Bs, and thoughtful touches in the bathroom as well! And the (included) breakfasts were amazing - always starting with fresh fruit, different kinds of coffees and teas, and better food than I've had in any hotel restaurant! The house itself is in great shape, very well-maintained, though the stairs to the loft are probably due for a little paint - but sea air will do that quickly. Otherwise, it was the highlight of our visit to the Outer Banks, and we'll probably find reasons to come back there, just to stay at the Cypress House Inn! Highly recommend!!!"

"Blown away by everything. The location and beautiful ocean views! The space was perfect for the 6 of us. We plan on coming back next year and getting a 3 bedroom and bringing more people! Absolutely loved everything!!"

"Your CommentsOur stay at Blue Crush was good. At this price point it really should be “excellent”. The house was adequately furnished and in good shape on the inside. We utilized 8 of the 10 bedrooms and there were no complaints. There was a lot of room for everyone to enjoy themselves while inside without tripping over each other, etc. The elevator was an added bonus as it helped transport baggage and groceries (kitchen is on the third floor). This was a family vacation and so we cooked dinner every evening for everyone. We were able to fit everyone around the two tables, combined, but note that if you have more than 15 people, this may not be possible. The pool is in good shape and was a good place to hang when returning from the beach or in the evenings. Beds were comfortable but at this price point they could be upgraded. The WiFi worked “fairly” well but once you got to the upper level, it was spotty at best. One would argue that you’re not here to use the WiFi, but it is 2026 and WiFi connections are not only a reality, but also a necessity. Kitchen appliances were average. Not all the burners were operational on the two stoves, but having two stoves/ovens in the main kitchen was a plus (since we cooked for 15 every night). Multiple fridges/freezers were located throughout the house, again another bonus. But, as experiences in our previous trips to the OBX, one of the main fridges/freezers broke down and even though it was reported, it was never fixed during our stay."
