  • Enjoy splendid views towards wild Bodmin Moor from the balcony of a delightful retreat. Full of character, this inviting getaway in the heart of the countryside sleeps four guests and two dogs. A path from the large garden leads to the private banks of the River Lynher, and you are within a mile of Bodmin Moor’s walks. The historic market town of Launceston (7 miles) has shops and eateries, while North Cornwall’s golden beaches such as Trebarwith Strand (16 miles) are within easy reach.

    This charmingly furnished retreat, one of four similar properties, has a soundproof, interlinking door to a neighbouring cottage, ideal for sharing your holiday with a larger group of family or friends. An external staircase and balcony lead to a wonderfully light and bright open-plan living space, housing a neat kitchen, dining area and comfortable seating. Downstairs are a shower room and two pretty bedrooms: a double, with French doors to the garden and a cosy twin. The balcony has seating, perfect for enjoying the view. Outside, the garden offers a children’s play area, a shared games room, a BBQ and a fenced orchard for pets, plus a path through the grounds to the river bank. There is ample private parking. Please note that the mobile signal is variable.

    Bodmin Moor is renowned for its wealth of prehistoric stones, including the Nine Stones Circle at Alturnan (4 miles). Explore the quiet lanes near your holiday home on foot or by bike and take a pony trek across the moorland. A ride on the vintage Launceston Steam Railway is fun for all ages, and dogs on leads are welcome travellers. Launceston has an impressive, ruined Norman castle, a 14th-century gatehouse and an excellent Pop-Up Museum with fun activities for children. Atmospheric Tintagel Castle, reached by a spectacular footbridge across the sea, is less than 2 miles from Trebarwith Strand.
