About this property

Charming cottage in the heart of Ledbury

  • Magpie Cottage is a lovely grade 2 listed house in the heart of Ledbury. Just off The Homend, a passageway leads you into Hodges Yard, where you will find Magpie Cottage a traditional cottage built in the 1800s.

This two bedroom cottage can accommodate up four people and has a well equipped kitchen and dining area, living room with wood burner and tv and small outside courtyard with table and chairs.

Pets and children are very welcome. All bedding and towels are provided.
On arrival you enter into the lobby with room for coats and shoes, this connects with the timber framed living room featuring a wood burning stove, tv, and comfortable sofas.

Walk through into a well equipped kitchen and dining area with table and chairs. The kitchen contains oven, microwave, toaster, air fryer, coffee machine, fridge with small freezer section and a dishwasher and all the cooking utensils you may need. There is always a supply of tea, coffee, milk and sugar ready for your arrival.

The side door through the living room leads to a sunny courtyard with table and chairs, perfect for relaxing anytime of the day or for dining 'al-fresco'.

Upstairs are two bedrooms with double beds, one a bit larger than the other, but each with room to hang clothes, a chest of drawers, blanket box and underbed storage. Each bedroom also has a hairdryer. Bedding and towels are all provided and all bedding is 100% cotton.

The bathroom has a bath with in-bath shower attachment, basin and toilet. Soaps, shampoos and body wash are all provided.

Back downstairs (mind your head on the way down!) and in the under stairs cupboard you will find an iron and ironing board and a clothes steamer. Also available is a foldable baby highchair that can be secured to a chair. A travel cot can be provided on request.

The television in the living room is a smart tv that connects via the internet enabling you to log into your BBC iPlayer, ITV, Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Apple tv and other entertainment accounts. There is also a bluetooth connected speaker if you want to listen to your tunes.

The woodburning stove lights very easily and kindling, firelighters and a supply of logs (in the outside log store) are provided. Further bags of logs can be purchased on request.

There are 60 minute parking bays directly outside the passageway to Magpie Cottage and along the main street that you can use on arrival. Within 5-10 minutes walk are roads on which you can park for free, but also just 5 minutes walk away is Lawnside Road car park where 24 hour parking is just £4.30, or slightly further away is Bridge Street car park where 24 hour parking is only £2.50. For electric vehicles there is a Pod Point EV charger in the Tesco car Park.

Should you require clothes washing facilities there is a launderette on The Homend just 1 minute walk away. Alternatively, the petrol station opposite Tesco (5 minutes walk) has automated washing and drying machines.

For your dogs we provide food and water bowls, but we do ask that dogs don't go on the beds. There are many great dog walks locally, check out Dog Hill Wood, Frith Wood and Conigree Woods, or take walk across the local Recreation ground (great for ball throwing) on to the Town Trail, a walk that takes you from one end of Ledbury to the other.

Of course the Malvern Hills are just a 10 minute drive away. Head for the British Camp Car Park, where you will have easy access to the hills and a outdoor cafe and a pub to make the most of that well deserved drink or meal.

Ledbury itself, has numerous independent shops, cafes and restaurants for you to explore and make sure to take a walk past the Market House up Church Walk to the impressive St Michaels Church that dates back to the 12th century.

The cottage is ideally placed for a short break in Ledbury - close to all the shops, restaurants and historic buildings. The only (very slight) downside is the restricted parking on the Homend - but there are a number of both short and long stay car parks within an easy walking distance. We had a very enjoyable stay there and would recommend it highly.
