Very Good

The hotel and grounds itself are very beautiful with modern decor. The breakfast was a good selection and the bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. Check-in was quick and easy and we received a quick tour of the hotel.
The local knowledge could have been better, when we asked for a local restaurant recommendation we didnt expect to be referred to a chain restaurant, we did go for a walk and settle on a local Thai restaurant.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return if we visited the area again.
Convenient location but huge negative was the lack of parking. Once you find a park it’s a long uphill climb back to the accommodation. Not good for the elderly or artharitic😊
The hotel is very central for our purposes. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

otel was OK, no parking but room was good except that the fan in the bathroom had to be turned off becuase it was screaming.
This hotel has the earliest breakfast and checkout of any hotel I've been to. We went for a relaxing night but this was spoiled by the fact that breakfast stopped at 9.00AM. And checkout was 10AM. On a Sunday morning. So no lie - in, had to set an alarm. The reception staff were a bit abrupt too. Also, Wifi didn't reach our room. Disappointing stay.
Great breakfast, beautiful location and clean rooms. Highlight was the staff! A special thank to you Patrick! A wonderful Receptionist who went above and beyond to assist our group during our stay. Thank you!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
+ Nice outdoor area around the back
+ Can bring your dog here
- The room was next to the main door to the stairway. Lots of people coming through there during the night, which was very loud in the room. On top of that, the floorboards in the corridor outside the room were creaky. The doors weren't very soundproof
On the day we booked (a week or so in advance) the cost of Sunday night in August at this gorgeous and individual hotel was less than we would have paid at the local Premier Inn. Our room (13) had everything we needed - a firm, comfy, enormous bed, and a contemporary and well-finished bathroom with power shower. No spectacular views from this particular room, but we were only there for a night so this wasn't an issue for us. The breakfast really made our stay memorable. When we came down in the morning we were greeted by lovely staff who showed us where everything was and offered a choice of locations to eat, including the beautiful garden terrace. It was a sunny morning so it was a real bonus to have breakfast outside and then relax afterwards with our coffees. The staff who looked after us were lovely. We'd only booked here as we needed somewhere to sleep after a local friend's party, and we were really not expecting our hotel stay to add to our weekend in the way it did. Thank you for a lovely stay. (Our only smalll constructive criticism is that when we checked in we forgot to ask and were not given details such as wi-fi password, timings for breakfast and so on. As we were late back we didn't need wi-fi anyway, but it would have been useful to have some written details in the room about this, breakfast timings and so on.)
The hotel is right in the town centre and in a beautiful setting, our room was stylishly decorated in keeping with the age of the house and the bathroom was modern with a powerful shower. Apart from hearing a group of guests returning to their room, it was quiet. The bed was firm and comfortable. The carpet was stained and the bed runner looked like it had not been cleaned. There was a really bright fire exit green light above the door which was very noticeable when lights were off. There was no information in the room about amenities and we were unable to use the WiFi as the code was unknown to night staff, who tried hard to find it. When we brought this up at checkout the member of reception staff did not apologise and laughed it off saying they hadn’t gotten round to putting info in the rooms yet. We also found the receptionist dismissive when we made a query re billing. The building is lovely but has no atmosphere and the staff are not welcoming - perhaps this was because we were not part of a wedding party. Breakfast looked nice but was quite sparse and we were not allowed to sit at the window table because it was for 4 - in a half empty dining room.
Central location, decent accommodation at a reasonable price. But there is no lift and it is not easy to find. Parking is difficult. Not suitable for the elderly as the whole area is very hilly and driving around the area especially at night is quite a challenge.
