Very clean and comfortable room, great pub atmosphere good food, would definitely stay again
Comfortable stay with the necessary amenities. I would recommend to people as was just what I needed and bonus that it is dog friendly for when I stay again and bring the dog. Clean, welcoming and lovely breakfast in the morning.
lovely stay in an attractive pub with very pleasant rooms
the staff and landlord were lovely, very friendly
the restaurant was excellent with a great chef
Really nice little rooms well appointed with everything you need.
Breakfast was really good as was the lamb shank the night before.
Beer was good also!
The staff were super friendly and the breakfast was really good. Get the breakfast, that will be your meal for the day! It was a 25min walk to town which worked well for me, got a walk in everyday.
Clean comfortable and quiet, with plenty of parking.
Stayed 3 nights and the room was cleaned and replenished each day.
Staff were friendly and cooked a lovely breakfast.
Would have given 5 stars but the bathroom lacked a stool or any surface to place clothes.
Outside step is very deep. A half step would make the entrance and exit safer especially for older guests.

Support British Inns
A multi-night stay that really allowed me to see what this inn had to offer.
The staff are incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home.
With a superb location that is very easy to reach and with suitable parking, I was able to arrive and get checked in with ease at the bar.
The food on offer is of a very good quality and there is a decent selection on the menu, I would especially recommend the desserts as this is where the chef can certainly show what can be done with their skill set.
With the rooms being away from the main pub, it meant that arriving back late did not disturb anyone and everything felt well organised.
Breakfast in the morning is excellent, especially if you like your full English breakfast. But the continental selection is healthy as well.
Overall, keep in mind that this is a countryside British Inn, run by genuine, hard-working, and friendly people, things are a little more traditional and some of the more fancy additions in hotels are not likely to be found here, such as room service, Air conditioning, or even daily housekeeping.
But that’s not what this is about, this is about supporting British pubs, and this is a fine example of one worthy of support.

Disliked: Room comfort
Lovely pub, great room, terrible mattress
It was our third visit to the Jolly Drover and we have always returned because the beds and bedding are so comfy and the accommodation is simple but well maintained. We have stayed in different rooms and this time were in room 6. Everything was fine until we got into bed. The mattress was so awful that you could feel the slats on the bed. I nearly fell out on one occasion. It was a horrible night and very sad because we were exhausted after a long drive from Wales and settling a family member back in to their home nearby.
I did let a member of staff know as we were leaving that the mattress needs replacing and was a short it would be escalated with head office. Personally I didn't feel very reassured.
Breakfast was ultimately very good but I originally asked for two poached eggs and was informed I would need to make my own toast to go with the poached eggs which I thought was really weird. I'm not sure I have ever stayed anywhere where two poached eggs have been presented on a plate on their own. Anyway I had the full English instead which was excellent.
We may return but I would want to know that the mattress in number six had been replaced beforehand.
The pub was pleasant and lively and we enjoyed a good dinner. The room was on the small side but it had all the amenities we needed. The breakast was freshly cooked and excellent.
Everything I needed. I had a comfortable night's sleep and the room was a nice temperature. Perhaps the only missing thing which would have been nice was shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. It was all provided in one dispenser.
Lovely country pub, nice clean comfortable accommodation in adjoining building. Only negative was the brightness of emergency exit light in the room. Really nice friendly people. Lively warm and powerful shower.
A fantastic overnight stay as part of a bikepacking trip.
Excellent location along the King Alfred Way trail.
Super friendly and efficient staff.
Tasty food with a good selection of evening meals and puddings.
The room was spacious and comfortable with a good double bed. The bathroom was also good with a large walk in shower cubicle.
There was not enough bike storage so needed to keep bike in room, which was fine as the room was large.
I'd highly recommend the Jolly Drover to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for looking after us.
Really nice b&b at the back of a lovely country pub. Nice-size room, well-equipped, comfy bed, new shower. Plenty of parking; wheelchair-accessible. Freshly cooked breakfast to order, very good quality food, friendly staff. Really nice experience, would definitely recommend.
