Friendly little hotel

The Avo is well placed for Dalston tube stations and local amenities. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, and this hotel benefits from feeling well cared for by its owners. The rooms are quite small, but very clean and comfortable - its such a delight to find independent accommodation so well priced where the owners have really thought about the experience of their guests - no cut corners or cheap beds, and lots of thoughtful touches. Would definitely stay here again.

Shoegaze gig.

We booked this apartment as we had a gig at the Victoria inn just around the corner. It was a perfect location for this. The bed was comfortable and shower room was large and clean. There was somebody on site 24/7. The Scottish lady that oversaw things was wonderful, inviting and funny, she made us most welcome. Will defiantly return. Thankyou.

Lovely small hotel

Very nice small hotel. Room was quite small, but had everything we needed for a short stay. The only downside (and not the hotel's fault) is the noise from the road outside as our room was facing the front.

Wasn't expecting the reception to be in a curry house; however the welcome was spot on. The stairs are quite narrow, i managed fine with just an overnight bag but a larger case might be a struggle.

It wasn't what we expected. Itis definitely not a 4 star property. The reception area looks like a gathering for the locals. There is an extreme food smell at the reception area to an extend that if you stay at the reception for a few minutes your whole clothes and hair would smell like food. The roos is extremely small to a point that we couldn't open our luggages at the same time. The shower head was so low that my fiancé had to slouch while taking a shower. On the other hand, it was fairly clean and the amenities were ok.

I loved the attention to detail in the amenities provided: a good quality elastic hairband added to the shower cap, no plastic cups but glasses in the bathroom, good tea and coffee assortment with filtered water, coloured mood lamp. In all, a very nice surprise.

Great find in Dalston

Really nice boutique-type hotel with a super friendly and helpful manager called Lee. Really comfy room also. Lots of nice little details! I’ll be back.

Cosy place well-placed for Dalston and Hackney

Second time we've stayed here, each time was for one night for an event in the area. The rooms both times have been small but very cosy, with very comfortable beds/bedding (some of the best we've slept in!) and modern clean bathrooms. Large TV on the wall right opposite the bed (where it should be). Tea/coffee making facilities. The room was warm enough with openable windows if need be. Proper sized hairdryer. Another plus point here is that they provide tasty Indian food/curries from their downstairs kitchen, which you can eat in the room (and they provide proper plates and cutlery for this). Friendly staff. They do provide free DVDs to watch but we didn't avail ourselves of this service this time. The only downside was no wardrobe - all there is is a few clothes hangers hanging from a shelf on the wall. Oh and the squeaky laminate flooring. It's quite a noisy area of London to stay in as well. However, we would stay again if needing to in the area.

O atendimento é muito bom, o café da manhã vale a pena. Alguns quartos são realmente muito pequenos, mas conseguimos mudar para um quarto maior. Janet, da recepção, nos forneceu dicas maravilhosas de passeios e lugares. A região, apesar de longe do centro, tem vários tipos de comércio e é de fácil acesso ao transporte público.

I enjoyed my stay at the Above Hotel. Our host Lee was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located near a busy junction, but I still managed to get a good night sleep. The bed is very comfortable, and the room although small was clean and well laid out.
